Yo, I am applying, and have an interview, for a job. Its a marketing assistant role and its mostly based around their online marketing. They have asked me to prep based around how I would market an open day. I have a load of ideas but as always its better to get other peoples opinions. The hypothetical is for a private day school. Also I need to know what CRM Databases are and how to use them - can someone help me out. Thanks yo!

CRM databases
are system which are focussing on the what the client wants. those computer system are focussing on what the client wants and how your company wants to fill that in. Company who use it are mostly based on a high standerd on client statification.
But I do think you can find the better explaination on the internet.
atleast that is what I learned in school.

for the idea what is the focus, getting so high number of people or only get people who are really interesting in joining the school

The "school" has a regristration fee of £75 - to be put on the "waiting list". I would guess its to get as many people to sign up in one day as "they" always fill their allowances and then some.

There are different kinds of CRM databases, but basically they're used (in my experience) to track customer contact, log phone calls, conversations, client information, etc. Anyone who has any computer experience can learn them pretty quickly.

what kind of school is it, formal typical old fashion english
then I would do something typical english on the ad or invitation (if it is online just make a pdf version of it) or whatever you want to make as an ad and then try focussing on the high part of the city/town.
that typical thing should come back to

It's a private day school, so I would imagine a certain amount of prestige comes with it, but what do you mean "something typical english"? A pork pie?

It's the delicate balance between prestige, selectivity, and the dream of "even your child come come here!" A PDF poster could be a good idea, with a photo of any old buildings the school might have, or of course any photo of children being happy playing a sport, or listening to a class. You might be able to emphasise the aspect of becoming part of an academic community, it's not just a school, it is a place where your child will be fostered into being the best person they can be. A kind of "come and see what being a XXX student is really about" deal.

not really a pork pie, but something typical old fashion english, if it really a typical famous big name private school. lately I saw a movie from england about the duke and his wife. those parties I saw I mean. back in the days when england was really about dukes etc. as kind of theme and then make that come back at the actually event.

For the poster you could add those things together. If you are good with photoshop etc, but I do think that company Sam applies is good with those photoshop etc.
just make the background about old fashion stuff I just called, and the upfront pics what you told :)

But in seriousness, the target audience here is middle class parents and children, no? Upper class parents will send their children to public school, or not give a shit about having to dole out the fee. Lower class families might still come, but would be more rare. A theme like that, dukes and duchesses, etc, has nothing to do with education, or really educational prestige, as those people did not go to this school.

Honestly, Sam, could you have thought of a more specific, descriptive subject line??

Pull out some basic marketing tactic b.s.: segment your potential customers based on certain criteria that might be a strong indicating vector... e.g., do they have school-aged children, are they geographically in the area, are they recent parents with a longer sales lead time that might require more drip marketing, etc.?

Then for each segment, identify key messages that will motivate each one uniquely, addressing their specific needs and concerns.

Consider different media to reach them: online display ads, email, printed postal mail fliers, local events and sponsorships, etc.

Lather, rinse, repeat -- especially if you're tracking all this stuff in a CRM and can view which segmentation-based campaigns are taking off and which ones are not. Double down on the ones that are effective and pull back on those that haven't been.

    How's that for starters?
