I'd say liberal - democratic. They're the main opposition to the current ruling party(ANC) & the main reason i wouldn't vote for the ANC is because they have lost their values. Self enrichment are the order of the day & they implemented black economic empowerment which was a complete farce, considering the unhealthy & uneven distribution of wealthy amongst the black community.
The old apartheid regime focused on lowering standards of education for the black majority & the ANC has done very little or should i say nothing to improve the standard of education.
How can a nation move forward when providing education for the uneducated masses & improving the state of it, be expected to grow?
I was watching a documentary on South Korea & how they can from extreme poverty six decades ago to becoming the eleventh largest economy in the world.
I really have a lot of respect for them, considering how hard working they are & how they put education as a priority for their kids. They would put aside luxury items & opt on spending lavishly on their kids education.
No wonder they have become a global leader in information technology.
As far as I know, these fines still exist in theory but are no longer applied. Basically, we are obligated to present ourselves on the day of voting (different from actually voting), but if we don't turn up there's no punishment.
Personally, I've probably voted 5 or 6 six times so far. I wonder why though...
Fines go from 17-55 euro the first time.
It can go to 137euro if it isn't the first time.
If you don't go 4 times in 15 years, you loose your civil rights and your freedom to vote.
Also, if you get a call up to be present at the voting office the entire day, and you don't go, you can get a fine up to 500 euro.
