I'm still not so sure....
This guy is really good but we have to spend much money to buy him.
In the same time we have Marchisio who seems to has the future ahead of him.
I don't know.
It all depends on how much faith our board has in Claudio's potential

i'd bet that we will not sign hamsik. There are a lot of arguments speaking against a transfer, first of all his cost. napoli could demand whatever they want for him, because they don't intend to sell him.
Hamsik is not the type of player we will buy atm. Hamsik would be ideal if we'd have a settled midfield, no problems in defense and our attack covered. Hamsik seems to me the perfect substitute, whom you can make grow and slowly integrate into a team. But that's not our situation. We need experienced players, who can stand the pressure of both Serie-A AND CL. Our 'prey' should be players at the peak of their career, like 26-28 yrs old, which can assure a decent upgrade of quality to our squad. I rate Hamsik, and I'd love to sign new promising youngsters (Huntelaar, Piatti, Hamsik, and the list goes on...) but we're not in a position where we can gamble on a player.
Plus, i don't think we need a new player in the hamsik-position. When giovinco comes back, we'll be pretty much settled in midfield i'd think (unless management pulls out a monster-transfer out of the blue like vdv or diego)

hamsik if bought will not come cheap

napoli are our rivals for 1 and secondly napoli have already said there not going to sell him. they will if the price is right but that price would be high and we really need to look at other signings first IMO

Hamsik joined Napoli last summer from Serie B side Brescia and has been a revelation this season.

He has been an ever-present at the heart of the Azzurri midfield, and has a return of seven goals from 31 Serie A games.

This form has seen the starlet linked with a move to a host of top European clubs, with Juventus heavily tipped to make a summer transfer bid.

"In Naples I feel good,” Hamsik told Napoli magazine.

“It is a fantastic city. Juventus? I do not know anything and I am not interested.”

Hamsik was again in brilliant form last night, scoring an injury time winner in the 1-0 victory over Palermo at San Paolo.

“To play and score in Serie A at 20-years-old is fantastic,” he beamed.

“These are three points that are worth a lot. We are happy about this victory.

“The coach did well not to substitute me. The goal was a beautiful emotion. We focused on long balls and I must say thanks to Lavezzi for his assist, as well as the defender who propelled me towards the ball.”

Let him rot in Napoli...
I see nothing wrong with what he said.
In other words he said "i didn't hear anything about Juve beeing interested in me and i'm not interested in joining any other club now. I'm faithfull to Napoli"

Hamsik is another player overrated on this forum.
Perhaps, although i do think he's a future star.
I rarely say such things for 20 yo players but i have a feeling this guy will make it at the end (unlike the other 100 "future stars" mentioned in these forums, day after day).

I thought the same but according to gazzeta's ratings Marchisio plays better.
Well, as many have posted they are not so reliable but it shows something.
And add to this that Claudio plays in a team much worse than Napoli...
Nah, the difference between their performances this year is sky-earth.
Hamsik is in serie A's top 5 in many categories. He scored 7 goals, he assists a lot, he makes lots of great crosses, passes, he runs from box to box.
Marchisio is a silent player, similar to Zanetti who does his job without being noticed much during the match.
Not saying that Marchisio played bad, but he can't make a difference and be noticed even in serie A weakest team (which a great player should do with ease) , while Hamsik is imo the best player in Napoli, a much better team than Empoli, or one of the 2 best.

Just for comparisson

Goals:
Hamsik 7
Marchisio 0

Asissts:
Hamsik 3
Marchisio 2

Successfull crosses:
Hamsik 55
Marchisio 3

Successfull passes:
Hamsik 843
Marchisio 657

Corners won:
Hamsik 24
Marchisio 3

Fouls suffered:
Hamsik 28
Marchisio 17

Intercepted passes:
Hamsik 33
Marchisio 22

Won tackles:
Hamsik 47
Marchisio 34

Lost balls:
Hamsik 35
Marchisio 25

Fouls commited:
Hamsik 34
Marchisio 55

Yellow cards:
Hamsik 2
Marchisio 7

This shows who's playing better this year, but it's fair to say that they play different positions, even though they are both central midfielders (one of them is more offensive the other one much more defensive)

You can't really compare those stats though, hamsik has played more than marchisio.

Of course we can compare them. We can compare them when we divide the minutes played with the numbers i gave.
Hamsik beats Marchisio by far even this way.

Face it guys, the Slovak is a much better player than Marchisio. Being owned by Juve doesn't make you better than everyone else by default.

Ok, Giovinco, our next #10, is better than the others. But only him, no-one else.
