He looks like he's 5ft5.

It is much easier for short guys to do a squat than for tall guys.
Malanichev and Carl Yngvar are the two best squatters in the world (raw vs equipped), and they arent exactly short ;)

It all depends on weight. In lower weight class short guys got the advantage cause they can carry more muscle while making the weight class.

However, the "open weight" class is all over 6foot easely.

The disadvantage offcourse, is that beeing taller means you'll need to build substantionally more muscle to finish the frame. I'm 191cm widebody skelet build. I should compete in the -125 or -140 class. My fatfree mass is 95-98kg, long way to go

ok. Just wondering because I remember you saying high squats aren't ideal. :D

I'm impressed by the explosiveness
They arent ideal if you want to set a new world squat record.

I let my girlfriend to high bar wide stance squats. And you bloody know why ;)

I think that in a lot of cases people cannot squat because of mobility or stability deficits. Sure, there are people who are better off not squatting. But I also think most people should at least look into whether or not they are flexible and strong enough as a squat is still a pretty fundamental movement pattern. I know that when squatting comes easy to me, I am also at my most explosive and strongest.

Considering WILKS coefficient, wich greatly favors low bodyweight athletes, these squats are standing out the most

With a single ply suit

Raw without a suit

Considering how the bodywight to squatweight ratio goes down over 105kg, these two are the best performed squats today.

Malanichev can do a 420 without wraps or anything. Ygnvar can squat pretty high without wraps, but never does cause he has some condition with his quadriceps and patella tendons that make them hurt ALOT if he squats high without high pressure on the knee joint.

The Sinclair coefficients in O-lifting do a really good job of making weight classes quite equivalent...

The top 10 scores of all time are from:

1 x 60 kg lifter
1 x 75 kg lifter
2 x 82.5 kg lifter
4 x 90 kg lifter
1 x 100 kg lifter
1 x 110 kg lifter

Hey guy.

I need some help, I'm starting my fasted cardio again and want to start to develop my abb's, do you have any recommended workouts? My diet is clean I just need to get back on my running and start to train them in the gym.

I'm probably at around 12/13% body fat at the moment, I train six times a week.... I tend to do back, shoulders, two legs, two chest and an arms.

Any idea's on some new arm workouts too as mine are quite poor at the moment.

Frankly, my ab development has never been better than when I sprinted a lot.. Ab exercises tend to make my stomach look bloated and if anything they actually hurt me.

- stop doing arm exercises, rather go big on compound movements
- start doing skip rope

You think arm day is a waste?
Everything I've read contests that an arm day is an exercise in futility. Just chuck some curls or pull downs on you back/chest day and do two back days. I do cardio/core, chest, back, legs, chest, back, rest and my arms are developing fine.

Bit happy with my squats today, I stopped progressing my 5x5s and have been focusing on form and changing to 3/4x8-10, managed to squat 100kgs 3x9 today :weee: hoping to start deadlifts this week, what do you guys recon I should start at 5x5 or 3x10? And what weight?

Depends on your goals, really.

And perhaps that's where you need to start. This is a decent faq: http://www.reddit.com/r/Fitness/wiki/faq

But seriously.. just hit the gym with a good programme/routine. Fitness - unless competing - isn't that complicated. Eat enough, sleep enough and hit the gym, and results that most people are satisfied with shall arrive.

I personally run a Pull/Push/Leg-split and I freaking love it.

I agree, although I have fairly weak triceps right now, so I make an effort on targeting them a couple of times a week (diamond press ups and the like).

Spot training abs also seems a bit odd to me, unless you are getting really big then a lot is down to body fat percentage.
