I agree, although I have fairly weak triceps right now, so I make an effort on targeting them a couple of times a week (diamond press ups and the like).

Spot training abs also seems a bit odd to me, unless you are getting really big then a lot is down to body fat percentage.
I used to do lots of abs but I was on a low body % :D otherwise no chance in hell I'd do it so much... or any.

I feel like bench, overhead press and dips hit my triceps pretty hard. Some rope pulldowns afterwards and I'm good.
Exactly. Plenty of big exercises hit biceps/triceps and you use serious weights on it, they are already being hit. Curl monkeys are just plain bad, you'll end up killing your ligaments and you will feel pain in your bones basically :D so just skip that cause it ain't worth the trouble. Rather focus that day on legs/back, some group of muscles that actually big, not fucking tiny biceps.

lower back soreness would make sense but not sure about the upper back. never got it there, especially not on only one side.

Did you do anything besides squats the previous day? Sometimes the soreness will really hit you a day later. But yeah, make sure you go light and have proper form.

I squatted yesterday and now I have soreness in my upper-mid back to the left of my spine and in my chest of around the same area. I'm assuming it's something wrong with my form. Any ideas on what it could be?

Is this the first time u have done squats? That could be it. It can also be if u are going heavier than usual. Also how did u squat? Did u position the bar on ur shoulders or lower on ur back?

Lastly if u lean forward at the bottom of ur squats that could cause that

Not at all. Was heavier than usual I guess, as I went up by 10 pounds to 215, but I didn't feel this last week. As comfortably on the traps as possible.

THAT might be it. I've noticed I have a habit of doing that sometimes but I've been working myself out of it.

Oh yeah, you gotta keep your torso straight. If you work on it, you should get over it pretty quickly plus you'll feel it on your core a lot more.

it usually happens when u go heavy. especially as u get tired.

my suggestions is try using different foot stances. i found i could not do deep squats with a narrow stance as comfotbally as i can with a wide stance or a duck stance

I didn't know you could do wide stance, I thought feet had to ALWAYS be at shoulder length. I'll look into it, thanks man

well i don't go running on them, just for lifting. they're pretty widely used for stuff like deadlifts and squats.

powerlifting shoes will help you squat with better form but for my purposes, chucks work great.

That can't be good for your joints?
Why not? It's a hard flat, stable shoe. Lots of people squat and deadlift in chucks.

I've been reading lately that dumbbell flys can actually end up being harmful to the shoulders. Is this true?
Maybe, maybe not. But why do them? I hate that exercise with a passion :D.
