That's pretty impressive. I always end up having drinks on weekends and sometimes I'll have a beer during weekdays too. Nothing crazy, I don't think the calories add up to that much.
I don't think it's all that impressive. Depends on your friends and what you like as well. I like drinking a quality beer every now and then, but I can pretty much take it or leave it as long as I know that I actually can drink one if I want to :D.

And because my girlfriend rarely drinks, we just don't really buy much alcohol either.

What do you guys think about weight lifting shoes? My gym seems to be demanding them to use the lifting platforms but no one has challenged me yet when I'm squating. I want to start dead lifting soon and maybe Olympic lifting if I get the confidence, is it worth investing £100?

Fuck diet. I eat everything I'm craving for and I can't manage without drinking wine almost daily. If not then where's the fucking fun?

Why would your gym demand that?

Maybe, but I don't go to the gym because of her. Actually, she said she preferred me when I was thin (even though I don't believe her). :D

I really like working out and keep aiming at beating my best, but I don't do that at the expense of sacrificing what I like in life as it would kill the scope for me.

I think my right traps is bigger than the left one. I know majority of people have asymmetrical muscle and it can be worked on. But that's not the problem. I'm actually afraid it's scoliosis and honestly I don't want to find out if it is

Yeah, me neither.
better to find out then let it get worse man, really :-/

T3? :D

ok im going to go hardcore for the next 4 weeks, hopefully my chest stays healthy
yup :D

Not healthy but gets the job done

Why? Because they're also worked with other things? My arms are quite pathetic and need extra work imo.
you should allways do at least one large muscle group on a training day. wich will train biceps or triceps or forearms as the secondary muscle.

you can offcourse finish off with some arm work if you arent going all full compound, but arms only is just waste of all that hormonal response

I can't eat everything I want to eat, because I am pretty short and stocky, I just end up looking a fat bastard. I also loath cardio.

Doesn't help that Italian food is so good, or that the best English food is artery-blocking comfort food.

Lifting shoes will grab the foot really tight, wich will gravely aid in balancing.

a mate in the gym does squats on skatershoes. his ancles tilt inwards for allmost 45 degrees when descending. that is just an accident waiting to happen, and a squat is relatively straight. if you are doing cleans or snatches, it very easely makes twitch and fall

lifting shoes lock the feet very tight in place, it gives a safe and sturdy feeling and effect.

100 dollar is halfway the expense line. Im using 40 dollar squatshoes wich are fine. but after a year the sole needed a bit of glue, and they arent that tight.

Top of the line adipowers cost 200 dollar. But they are twice as rigid, and will be the same in 10 years from now

you can replace cardio entirely with squats

Theur insurance probably demands it. I joined the gym at my new job and its a strength and conditioning facility, it has 6 squat platforms, four Olympic lifting platforms and four bench platforms, pretty sweet.
i just came reading that

I've been incorporating that for a few months now. As odd as it seems though I don't increase the weight as my legs are already my strongest area genetically and I don't want them any bigger. The noob gains are already enough there, for me personally.

I usually eat everything I come across, but it's mostly healthy food and I rarely eat outside, maybe once in two weeks, when I don't have prepared lunch. My biggest and only problem is Nutella, I eat like 300-400g per week, I just can't resist... :(

The occasional 5K run does wonders for the heart however. IMO it even compliments lifting. I also recover faster when I run.

All that being said though, there is no reason to run around every single day. And you're right, squats are so taxing that they do replace some of the benefits of cardio too. I'm not sure what your opinion on this is, but I think being able to run is also simply a sign of being healthy.

That is literally the only reason I make room for it a couple of times a week, I feel like I should be able to do 10K and have stamina without any problems. Having said that even when I was a 10 stone teenager I was never any good at distances.

I get that you're not supposed to lift to your max every time and that you're supposed to use percentages of that (around 80 I think?). But when do you use what percentage? For example, when would you lift to 50, 80, 100% of max?

I'd think that depends on a multitude of factors.

I never squat or deadlift at 1RM, because I play football and I don't feel the risks are worth it. If you want to focus on getting as strong as possible, you will have to lift your max at some point though.

Oh of course, I have no problems with that. I just know that you're not supposed to do it too often. I pretty much know that I'm doing it all wrong, since I just go and lift anywhere from 4 sets 8-4 reps of as much as I can handle because that's what I was taught. I need to fix that.

I agree, you want your heart and lungs to be exercised as well, yes the squats do help substituting cardio, but i just feel like i know my whole body is improving when i see that i can run faster after each week and dont get tired and leg soreness as the time goes, which is my main aim. It really shows, especially when i play the weekly futsal/football.

That's what i thought initially, but distance running is really great, start with 5K, and then 10K, i just did my first 21K, and i can't believe i actually finished, with a pretty good time, below target. Most important is to have a bit of training, no need for intense training, just a couple of 2-3KM run like twice a week on the treadmill and you should be fine with 10K, I think stamina wise, as long as you dont smoke too much, and trained enough, it would be fine, the part that i still have a bit of a hard time overcoming is the soreness on the legs (quads, calf).

definitely should try running distance, its awesome!
