You can train pretty much every muscle group in the upper body with that. A lot of those exercises can be done with free weight, but not all. For example, lat pulldown. There's no chance you can do that with free weight, unless you have a pull up bar at home.

I wouldn't buy it though. I was staying at my cousins house in Slovenia last month and he had that exact one in his basement. The cables were messed up after a couple of months he said. They were in some kind of zig zag and there was no way to get them back like they were when he bought it. The whole machine makes a very loud noise when training on it and it doesn't seem very stable.

Why the focus on the quads? Glutes and hamstrings, that's what athletes use. Obviously strong quads are necessary, but in most people they overpower the glutes and hamstrings anyway and you see runners in particular develop anterior pelvic tilt. You get weak hip extension and weak hamstring strength and you become a poor runner.

I would buy it only because of dips probably.
Dips are one of the moves I have a problem with. I work out at home and I simply use a barbell. Glute ham raises can be a problem too, but you can load the barbell and use it to keep you down. Squatting is another issue to consider...

I'm working out at home too, I have bench, barbell, dumbells and pull-up bar and it basically all you need. And like Seven already said the only problem is doing dips and I sometimes miss lat pulldown. Ofcourse there is always some kind of additional items you could need, but are easy to get and use.

Dule my advice is also to go for barbell and bench instead of that machine...

@Zaim: Did you tried OVT?

why are you guys so reluctant to join gyms?
Dule wants to be able to say "I did all this at home" while showing of his 9-pack. _:p

And Dooz, bro if you buy that machine, don't you feel you'll be cheating in your quest for muscles at home? :D On a serious note, I have one of those in my building and it's crap. Join a gym bro, it's so much more fun.

oh come on gym is like 20 bucks a month
My mom has a rather big house and for about 200 euros you can buy all the training equipment you really need. It's the cheaper solution and I never have to wait for someone to fnish an exercise.

The real secret is to join a gym in an affluent area. You see, these rich women will pay up front, workout for like 2 months and then only go back extremely sporadicly. The gym that I'm at (where the Irish football squad train :stuckup:) had the most people that I have ever seen in it yesterday, Five.

If you're clever and have no job like me, you can end up driving 7 mins to have the whole gym to yourself :)
