Report: Russia frees Hiddink
Monday 11 January, 2010
Reports in Russia suggest the country's Football Association has freed Guus Hiddink, allowing the Dutch tactician to replace Ciro Ferrara at Juventus.

The Bianconeri have been engulfed in crisis since December and were knocked out of the title race last night after they lost 3-0 at home to Milan.

Juventus have been repeatedly linked with Hiddink over the winter period with the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport even reporting that vice-general manager Roberto Bettega already has an agreement in place with the former Chelsea boss.

According to Russian website sports.life.ru, the Russian Football Association have accepted a request from Hiddink to train a club along side his duties as head of the national team.

“In line with principle, Hiddink can coach a club team. In the case of Chelsea there was a particular rapport with Roman Abramovich and we accepted the deal, but I don't believe that things will change in this case,” Vitaly Mutko, Russia's Minister of Sport, is quoted as saying.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands the only condition would be that Hiddink renounces his pay for the duration of his time in club football.

This has been taken to mean that Juventus have in fact opened negotiations to hire Hiddink.

Juventus President Jean-Claude Blanc is expected to meet Bettega this afternoon to discuss the future.

because of our demotion?
Yes. Demotion and the Triade leaving meant the stadium plans were scrapped initially.

I think it was somewhere around April of 2007 that talks started about going ahead with the stadium project but the initial plans were too expensive.

For a while they were also thinking about a simple renovation of Delle Alpi, instead of building a new one, but Blanc (and the others) came up with a way to finance the new stadium. The stadium were are building right now has nothing to do with what Moggi & co were planning.

There's no hurry (assuming Hiddink isn't talking to other clubs).

Juve's season is over, so it doesn't really matter whether a new coach comes now or in a couple of weeks.

The important thing is to make the right appointment.

I know, but I don't think one or two weeks is going to be decisive.

Anyway, my point is that it is more important to appoint the right person than to appoint someone quickly.

what, no hurry? sure hiddink loves challenges but lets try to get him before we drop to 8th in the league. fiorentina and bari have a game in hand, so does genoa and cagliari.

And we play Roma in 2 weeks time.

Get Hiddink in as early as possible, cause he also needs time to settle in. Besides we have come to a point where players dont bother till Ciro remains.

i agree but theres no time to lose either, we cant afford to drop more points really it's going to be a dog fight for the 3rd and 4th spots, especially with our competition hitting good form of late
