Thanks :)

:tuttosport: hopefully getting one of these soon for my birthday. pretty darn cheap for a Gibson Les Paul (~$1200)

So you're a 15 year old getting a Gibson les paul Goldtop, insane. How minted are you?

Although I am an avid player I feel much out of place because everyone here seems to be a metal head (bunch of nutters!)

Metal head? That music is pure shit imo and shouldn't be considered music at all, so no you are not out of place at least not the only one :D

I do as I find it easier to keep rhythm with tricky playing when i sing the melody lines, but it sounds horrible :D
Haha me too, I would like to improve my singing at least to a point where it would sound at least a bit nice :)

Cool what are you into? I've just finished working out this beautiful song on guitar, I managed to work it out on D modal which I'm slightly proud of :D

I only play by ear and couldn't recite a scale or read a single note so most of my own compositions are just from playing experience. Anybody else do this or have you all had lessons too?

Aha, I've always been good at harmony's, so I often do backing but don't expect me to start howling and drawling like Mick Jagger, that's only for me to do in my room at home and for my neighbours to hear.

What are you guys rigs like? I play more acoustic than electric these days but when I was in the band last year the singer had a Marshal 100 watt valve amp which was just :tuttosport: for tone. Theres no way I could afford one for a long time so im looking at getting a valve overdrive pedal to get that tone. Does anyone else use one/know of one to recommend? My Electric set up is a Line 6 Spider iii 50 watt, Line 6 Pod X blah blah blah, fender tele with standard pickups & Ibanez rg1750x with two active humbucks and a passive single coil (which im trying to sell to get a casino or dot) plus some electrics i built myself when i was growing up which have seymour duncan passive humbuckers on them and a vintage eddie van hallen signature Kramer which has a warped floyd rose bridge on it so i can't use it .
Dude sell the fucking spider. Those things are the biggest pieces of shit ever, you could get a way better tone out of a free amp sim program on your computer. Get a nice tube amp, some kind of Fender tube amp would probably be good for you but I think they're a little expensive but you could always go used.

15? try 18 mate. It's not unreasonable at all. It's not a proper Gibson LP Goldtop anyway, it's only like $1200, you can buy Epiphones for that much ffs. I am in my 5th year of playing guitar too.

It was a birthday present and it serves its purpose. Its not too bad either, the clean tones leave a lot to be desired, but for distortion it does its job. When I have disposable income i'd love to get a vox valve stack :klin:. For now im going to look into get a valve state pedal.

I called you 15 by mistake too, i thin you wrote something in a post. AUD is $1.5-£1 isn't and avg wage is about $40000? Its not that expensive.

The UG community is full of complete idiots and trolls, i was on there for about 6 months and it drove me insane. When I was 18 I posted a thing in the old tips sub-forum asking for recomendations of mimicking the 7 string tone on some trivium songs - ie. changing to heavier strings and tunings i could use to get a similar sound without forking out £900 on a 7 string. All I got was people going mad at me for being an idiot....7 stringers were something I had never bothered with before then .

I play electric and acoustic, I love both for different reasons. But for me it takes more skill and attention to play rocking bass blues than it does to shred, but that is probably due to how easy I found both to learn.

@Raz I was going through my old recordings last week and I came accross a song i wrote for a friend as christmas present when i was about 20, jokey kind of thing. It has me playing lead, rhythm, bass, dobro and singing (my guitar teacher played the drum modulater). I can upload it if you want to hear my awful voice.

Sure, upload, would be interesting to hear. Pm me with a link.

@madvillain acoustic blues is the best, specially when done with one guitar. It's full of emotion, groove and feelings. While metal and all that 1000 notes in one second is just technicalities, lifeless. But whatever, forza the more you can shout and the faster you can play.

Wow! You need to be strangled using guitar strings for saying something like that!

I wouldn't say that, sometimes it's just idiots and other times there are some people on there that know their shit. That guy though :sergio: 10 years and he's barely played anything besides chords...and he said he knows almost every chord in existence  no chance, no one does.

That's a pretty subjective thing, metal doesn't have to be 1000 notes a second you know...I love metal but I hate it. I have maybe like 10 bands that I like and the rest I mostly hate. Check my last.fm in my sig for the stuff I listen to.

    Listen to these..amazing songwriting:

Can I know what metal music you've heard?
Man they are all the same to me, literally. And I'm not even talking about the ones that really go all out like dark metal and etc. But for eg. from Jeff Beck, who plays million notes just for playing them, ones like joe satrrainy and the famous steve vay and the rest lot(the shreders).

Granted, I haven't listen to them a lot, but that mainly because after listening just few minutes I don't understand what they want to say with that.

I just can't find the purpose to play so many notes, maybe to show how good you know modes or whatever other reason I don't know.

BB king can say everything that needs to be said with one note.
