I was also given similar comments after watching the BBC documentary on Heysel. I mentioned in that thread in Juventuz, that since watching it I've hated Liverpool more.
Only to get replies like "rubbish" - "nonsense" etc.
I don't wish death to their fans or anything...but personally, as a Juve fan, I couldn't help but sympathise with relatives of Juve fans who lost their loved ones there. True, the stadium was in an appalling condition, plus a selection of the English fan base that have a reputation for hooliganism - (which we saw a decade later in France 98, Euro 2000 etc)
I know this is just a mere selection of fans - after all we see the EPL every week, and needless to say unlike other leagues, their fans are not caged or fenced in the stands like the rest of the world, and behave like civilised human beings on all matchdays. As opposed to the Italian league(s), again one need not recall recent incidents such as a few months back between Lazio and Juve fans, and last year's incidents in Catania + much much more...
I know we've derailed completely off-topic here- but I thought I'd clarify a few things. Bottom line, Amicizia or not - Liverpool aren't really on the top of my "favorite clubs" list. Do I respect their gesture? Admittedly, yes (I'm neither Italian, and didn't lose a loved one in Heysel). Obviously to the Juve fans in attendance it didn't mean anything to them. Did the Juventini that night seek to kill them? No. But obviously, and not surprisingly there is still a deep hatred that is rooted in them.
speaking of which...Garcia's super strike that night perhaps ensured the ever-lasting hate! (figuratively speaking...on a side note)
