Howard is never as good as Buffon, but he could easily be a starter at a big club based on his current performance in the last ~2years. He is athletic, strong in the air, nice reaction, and looks like a leader, and command his defenders and organize them all the time

gotta laugh at the English media, they are killing Rob Green for his mistake but talking up his "great save" from Altidore, for me he got extremely lucky there,he could and should have turned it round the post, instead he fucked it and got lucky taht it hit the post,if that had went in they would be going ape right now

Utterly correct. He should easily have put that around the post, and if Cappelo plays him again, the oposition should shoot from the half way line at ever opportunatly.

Capello was very angry he didn't there.

Well that game wasn't nearly as good as I had hoped. England's midfield didn't work, let alone playing Rooney behind, or somewhere 'around', Heskey, HESKEY of all people. The guy was visibly annoyed and was never in a position to become proper dangerous. Nice assist by Emile for Gerrard though, credit where credit is due.

USA surprised me at times with some good play in midfield, they looked rather organized and I laughed every time Carragher got smoked on pace. Defensively there's quite a few gaps though, as players get caught out of position or just stand there 'ball-watching'.

I still wait for that first great game at this World Cup, but I guess the groups are never that exciting, especially the first games in the group, as teams tend to come on to the pitch trying not to lose, rather than to win.

Howard for Buffon, just, no. Howard's a good keeper but any situation that involves selling Buffon isn't acceptable.

Credit to the US, they did well, great team ethic. England should have done better later on and exposed DeMerit and Onyewu who were playing way too far apart, but a draw was fair as US did well first half whereas England were pretty poor (again).

If England are going to have Jamie Carragher in defence for this tournament they aren't going to go far. As for the goalkeeper, well you just pick one who is least likely to fuck up. That was supposed to be Green, but it seems to make no difference.

Jamie Carragher won't play the second game. Could have been sent off three times at least and was generally horrible. Capello will replace him.

Both the US and England should advance from this group though. The only thing I can see happening is that the US will be naive and Algeria will somehow trick them into losing. I don't see the US doing well against Algeria at all.

With who? Dawson? He's about the slowest defender of them all. At least England don't have the toughest of groups, or it could be very uncomfortable.
