Have you seen a compilation of the greatest goals scored in the EPL?Dennis has two in the top 5 i think. They arent Maradona like bursting-through-an-entire-team type goals, but extremley graceful one or two odd touches where he leaves the defence completley stunned.
His goal against Argentina at the '98 World Cup was one of the best ever.

He was excellent indeed but Id personally rate Deyna and Boniek ahead of him

Bergkamp's dribbling, ball control and chip over our defense in Champions League 2001/02 (when he assisted Ljungberg for Arsenal's 3rd goal, if anyone remembers) was also one amazing move. He completely owned Paolo Montero. I agree with Bergkamp being an amazing playa, he was a joy to watch. My favourite Dutch player together with Davids of the 90's.

Denco you seem to have a fair bit of knowledge on Maradona.I was wondering why he moved to Napoli? For a player of his quality, clubs from all across Europe would have lined up for him.And yet he selected a club that hadnt won a scudetto in its history, forgoing the chance to play for teams like Juve,Milan,Liverpool etc.I really dont know if these teams were interested in him at the time, though. He had discipline issues, but i still find it somewhat preplexing that teams bigger than Napoli would not have shown some serious interest in him. Also ive read that doubts remain over the legality of his Napoli transfer to this day.Something along the lines of the Napoli board carrying out the transfer in an illlegal way or something, because apparently they did not have enough money to afford Maradona, yet they did. That true?

As far as seeing goes,Id have to go with Bergkamp. He was the one player, that i did see a lot of even though ive never been an EPL fan.Bergkamp for me,has to be one the most graceful players ever. The fact that he refused to travel by plane used to make me cringe, but he was THE man.

There have been so many players in the late 1990's,who were so full of promise, but someone they just faded away.Anyone remember Ortega for instance? He was one HECK of a dribbler. Not just attempts at dribbling, but proper, classy dribbling.I remember seeing him during the 1998 finals, and i was extremley impressed, which reminds me of the Holland-Argentina semifinal from the same tournament, where Bergkamp scored argaubly the goal of the tournament. The match itself was brilliant too.I was rooting for Argentina, but i wasnt sad to see them go out after the quality of the match.
Bergkamp was indeed a great player....Brings back good memories, his goals against Newcastle in the Fa Cup and one against Everton(iirc) were also special..barring Zidane he's the most graceful player i've ever seen.:touched:

In all honesty, Ronaldo is the greatest player who ever lived. That's right. Ronaldo. No need to joke about it, no need to add anything to the argument. It doesn't get better than Ronaldo.

i don't know about you guys, but in terms of pure skill and ability, i really rate gianfranco zola, some of the goals he scored were incredible, the backheel v norwhich was just class and his freekicks and dribbling was second to none, another player who didn't play for a big club but was hugely talented in my opinion was jayjay okocha, some of the skills he used to do were quite frankly ridiculous!

Well his previous club was Barca and it was marred with his antics of red nights and fighting on the pitch, the Catalans got fed up with him. I believe the bigger clubs in Italy were in the race, I really don't remember what happened ( I read about it), but what I remember that the money was funded by the Cammora (Napoli's Mafia).

I know about the Barcelona bit and why he left.Im just surprised that a player of his quality didnt go for a european giant at the time.Ive read something along the lines of Napoli's owner requesting the fans to chip in the money for Maradona's transfer.I dont know if thats true though.
