People tend to forget that Salas was supposed to be part of the Nedved, Thuram and Buffon package; "the Zidane money." Shame he turnes out to be awful because I was expecting big things from the guy. I never saw anything spectaculor in Amauri at Palermo to begin with and I thoight he did "ok" under Ranieri for the first part of the season. Salas was just woeful.

Like I said, he stuck around here for years while not playing. Refusing transfers and leeching 4.5 mil a year in salary.

He sucked for a while this season, but I'm okay with his last two-three performances. There's no such thing as our brand of football yet, imo Max is still piecing it together

Its both, he hasnt been good enough, and we dont create enough chances for him. Clearly our attack is highly productive with 31 goals in 10 games, but our style and approach is not suited to creating chances in the way he makes runs/finds space. He really likes making darting runs just behind defence, and the two players who does passes like that, Pjanic and Marchisio in lesser sense, havent played with him enough (nor do that pass that often in Pjanic).

Which I mean by our brand of football is no defence splitting passes (like Insigne or Ozil provided him with), counter attacks and low crosses.

We don't do that at all. His strength is 1-vs-1's but we don't really get him in those 1vs1 situations to finish a chance.

For example, someone like Mandzukic suits our style better because we provide many high crosses (Cuadrado mainly) and hooff the ball forward. He has the phyiscal strength to win such duals against most CB's. But Higuain isn't really a combat warrior like Mandzukic and more of a finisher a la Trezeguet.

What do you think of Higuain actually? Worth the 90M or should we had -in hindsight- signed someone else?

if he scores in majority of the CL knockout games while we go all the way, i dont care. sadly, there is bigger chance that he scores 30 again while being invisible in the knockouts than what i wish for
