Only Argentine player to score in the knockout stages of the last 5 major International tournaments. 8 knockout round goals between Copa America's 2011+2015+2016 and World Cup's 2010 + 2014...

SO he has scored in big matches. Choked in the finals though. Although Argentina wouldn't have been in those finals without him...

Am I in the twilight zone?

He had a good coppa last time around and I wouldnt say he choked in that last final (missed one chance iirc) but apart from that last competition, Messi is obviously doing 90% of the offensive load for Argentina.

Of course. Although this is a huge part of Argentina's problem. They've been coached to play through Messi exclusively. The only one who provides a bit of variance and unpredictability is Di Maria. But when he goes out, like in WC 2014 and Copa 2016, they lose their ability to create offensively.

Higuain had 1 single chance in all three of the finals he choked in. Yes, 2 of the 3 were fantastic chances he should have buried. But in 3 finals giving your main striker only 1 chance per final is pretty damn poor.

There's a reason Argentina was so inept offensively at WC 2014. They got to the final on the back of defensive solidity, strangely enough. And that inability to create a decent number of chances and score bit them in the ass in the end.

Because we've barely lost any of our pre-season games and everything looks good on the field so far, Tuz members need to find new ways to meltdown this time of the year, and now its over Higuain's "weight" and "performance" in his first ever appearance for the team, a week and a half after signing, and after he had 5-6 weeks off football :rofl:

I've yet to read serious rants about his weight yet. Ppl are either slightly concerned about the cost effectiveness or spam jokes and funny names and pizza gifs. So please don't try to create one of your famous OMG EVERYBUDY MELTING DOWN EXCEPT ME firestorms out of this

Nah you haven't been, but there has definitely been a few members whining and whinging about this purchase already...and a lot of complaints about his weight.

But anyway, you've been squealing like a stuck-pig about us selling Pogba for the past 2 months...so yeh brah.
