I will have no problem if Xavi wins it ahead of Messi and Iniesta nor would I have had a problem if he won it against Sneijder and Forlan.
My problem is with the three candidates all playing for Barca. It really makes no sense. This is player of the year, right? By putting 3 Barca players on the podium FIFA directly says that Barca was the team of the year. How can a team that won 4 titles and is heading for the 5th have 0 candidates and a team that won only 1 domestic title have 3 players there? Even if FIFA wanted to reward the WC winning team, they should have given it at most 2 candidates and 1 place simply had to go to an Inter player, especially if that Inter player also played a WC final.

Xavi was probably not going to be there if it wasn't for the world cup. Iniesta i can't explain, i myself don't agree that he should be there. Only Messi was in there because of what he did for Barcelona.

Oh and Milito will definitely humiliate FIFA if he decides the CWC final too
I don't think Milito should be in the top five to be honest. Milito was fantastic last season, and he indeed did decide most of Inter's trophies, and was probably more consistent than Sneider too. But, after mid may, what did he do?

He barely played in the World Cup, and this season he's been mostly injured and when he has played he hasn't been all that special, granted the whole team barring Eto'o has been that way this season. Still, i'd say that if Milito was worthy, then so would Robben be.

Xavi and Messi are deserving of being in the top 3, but it should have been decided between those two, Milito and Sneijder. Not Iniesta, one goal certainly doesn't warrant a place in the top 3.

Ya Iniesta certainly doesn't deserve to be there. But don't you think Ronaldo is more deserving than Milito, he's been much more consistent throughout the year.

You could say that, and actually when I was writing my post I took a lot of time to consider him and I actually think he's notfar off at all. But if he was included in the top 3 a lot of people would be moaning, unlike if Milito was there. It will always essentially be a popularity contest.

Not quite. When Milito played his final he decided the game. When Robben played his, he choked.

I was talking about the fact that he wasn't nominated among the 20 candidates. FIFA had no excuse anyway, but if Milito scores a winning goal in the CWC, the same way he scored in the scudetto winning match, the Coppa Italia final and the CL winning match, then the humiliation will be complete.

At the same time I am dying to know what did Messi do more than Milito. In comparison, Messi did play in the World Cup and it was ax extremely pleasant image for me, especially against Germany.

there is no comparison between messi and milito at the world cup..nothing out of the ordinary from both of them...messi scored like 35 goals and milito 20, but as alen said, milito's goals were so important for them in winning those trophies.

"if i didnt see it it didnt happen" :sergio: forlan was the player with the most impact this past year, lets see xavi put atl madrid or uruguay on his back
Just because Xavi is surrounded by bunch of world class players doesn't mean he can't pull it. Wrong way of putting it.

Or lets put it this way, lets see Forlan adapting into a world class team like Barcelona or Chelsea. Can't see it happening.
