If we are really getting him for 3.5mil€ a year this will be a great deal for such a player. I know many fans just see the transfer prices but player salaries are at least as important and probably more. Just 2 players on a fat contract with little to none input can cripple the team for multiple seasons. The problem is that when you have such a player it's practically impossible to get rid. Amauri being the prime example, this is probably also the reason why we didn't take our option on Aquillani.

You don't think Ivanovic is significantly better than Bonucci?
The defense costs us minimum 15 points and while a top defender would not change Juve's playing style, he will be a difference between conceding silly goals and not conceding them. We improved the RB position and adding a very capable partner to Chiellini would automatically give us +10 points.
Last year the points we lost due to shameful defending were the main difference between being 7th and preparing for CL now.

I know.

I can't understand Fred saying Ivanovic wouldn't be a very good signing for Juve.

I can't believe some of you are moaning about this possible signing. Agüero is out of our reach, and if we get Rossi, Vidal and a great leftwinger I don't see why any of us shouldn't be pleased.

As far as I understood him, he says that Ivanovic would not change too much in our game. We'll still be the same clueless team that struggles to win the midfield and is caught too many times on counters. And assuming we don't improve the midfield, he's gonna be right.
In that respect Ivanovic won't change much.

But those of us who know what was our defense doing last year are well aware how much will a capable defender or two change in our points count :)

Pirlo is the man who can really change how Juve play.

He's poor at one-on-one defending, but the midfield will be more organised with him in there and there should be less counter attacks as he'll give the ball away less than other midfielders.

He should also give a much better structure to Juve's attacking play.

That's if Juve use him properly, of course.

Forget about Rossi and Aguero:

Licht - Ivanovic - Chiellini - Cissokho
Melo - Pirlo - Marchisio
Krasic Nani
Matri

:D

Buying someone for > 40m € isn't exactly an "opportunity" for me. You can pretty much do that every single season, if you have that much money.
And yeah, Aguero would improve our attack, as would Rossi. But why improving what's already decent in the first place, while spending as little as possible on other, more important areas?

The more I read this thread, the more I feel that people are massively overrating Aguero. Hell, this thread would make you think he's Messi & Ronaldo combined. Only better.
Personally, I really don't think he would be the difference between ending 7th or 3rd, as I have seen claims.
:p
