I dont know where to post this but it was inevitable. At some point we were going to get exposed.

We need to transition from the old guard now

Buffon's, Barzagli's and Chiellini's are a thing of the past. We need to move forward with a new spine.

Buffon should have went along time ago imo

You can't count on beating these super teams with a 4-4-2. Only 8 players defending the best attackers on Earth is a nearly impossible task.

You have to defend with 9. You have to play with only 1 striker. You have to play with 3 CMs and a DM.

You have to choose Dybala or Higuain or even NEITHER.

And then you build the team from there.

It's simple. Keep the good young ones. Get rid of the old guard.

Players like Barzagli, Chiellini, Asamoah, MDS, Khedira, Mandzukic, Lichtsteiner, Sturaro have no place in a team dreaming of winning the UCL.

But there are holes in this team, clear ones. I honestly think Ronaldo would have found goals whatever formation we played. Our centre looks weak down in the middle, from our midfield to our defence. Our wing backs looks terrible as well. Its a shame, but the end of the world.

First goal is avoided with a 4-3-3. De Sceglio has no questions of whether to come inside or drop back, he simply drops back and marks Isco. With only 8 players, he has extra responsibility, less teammates to help, more decisions to make. Harder decisions.

Absolutely. At some point , they were going put goals past us. They just have too much quality.

Egomaniacs on this forum still refuse to accept that we lost to a team in the final last year that had much better quality.

Do you think selling bonucci has weakened the defence

We beat Real Madrid last time when we had a midfield that can compete with them. Now? Our midfield is gone and our defence has collapsed. We stood no chance. Also, you cannot sit back against team like Real Madrid, when you no longer have the capability to.

That's precisely the point. You can't go head to head with these teams and bet on your individuals to come out ahead. It's like we are betting Higuain/Dybala vs. Ronaldo. You lose most of the time.

You just have to play with more men behind the ball and try to make it as difficult as possible.

This is the summer where the management cannot allow this club to be Milan from 4-5 years ago, hanging on to the old guard past their sell by date.

It is time to bite the bullet and bring in some fresh blood throughout the entire squad, even if it knocks us back a peg next season. I see these reports about contract extensions for certain players, and all I can think about are those Milan squads.

And that scares me.

What? The 4-4-2 worked well today. Two personel errors, three including Dybala’s red card, was decisive. Nothing to do with the formation.

:agree:

Ageing backline and mediocre midfield. Its like your total spine has regressed massively. What else do you expect
