yes, I'd mind us spending all of the money on the attack and leaving pennies for midfield like it's some second priority for second summer in the row. I hope Marotta catches some miracle bargain or Bentancur/Bernardeschi/Rincon suddenly have a monster CM season, Matuidi-Pjanič hardly inspires confidence.

Obviously we need depth quality, but we need starting quality more, it's just a matter of priorities. It's stupid to splash 80% of our money on depth and then try to cover our very gaping holes in RB and CM with what we end up getting from the sales, Sturaro f.e. probably has a line of bum clubs as potential destination who'll negotiate hard to go from 5m to 6m and he's not even our most useless player

Matič is a similar level player to Matuidi imo, but younger which is a big advantage. I'd rather have the best starting option available even if it means spending 20m more than for a slightly worse option, let's save money other things, not our starting 11

neither costa or bernardeschi are guarantees. these are not top10 players in their positions, and my guess is that costa doesn't even have the potential to become one. at least bernardeschi does have the talent.
fabinho is class, and can play 2 positions on a high level. i'd take him over any winger we've been linked with so far. bernardo silva, dembelé, alexis sanchez or even insigne would be dope, but i won't shit myself if we signed costa and/or berna.

fabinho will go around the 50m mark, and that's a fair price on today's market for a proven player i guess. i'm not sure about prices anymore, that's an inflated market on a level never seen before. bernardeschi should better surprise me for the same amount... costa was great with lucescu, i give him that, but even with guardiola, i wasn't too impressed.
Why do people act like we are going to start Licht? We are buying someone its just a matter of who. If Costa is truly on the loan with an option that is perfect. He adds so much to us in terms of pace and countering abilities. He can play on both sides and really its like we are getting next years purchase a year early so we can have money for a rb and other depth up top.
