I don't think it had anything to do with a contract renewal. Vidal explained it all in his interview. He always wanted Bayern, we were just a pit stop for him. Clear as day.
I don't think so, but even if you are right, Marotta should have hold this shit till the end of mercato while he could plan his replacement, and make an auction with EPL teams. A City or Chelsea would've easily thrown 50M + on him.

So even if there was no decision to be made - Marotta had to do it -, it was done the wrong way.

Everything went quickly as hell, there was little time for other teams to go in.

Now look at us, 6 days to the end of mercato and still desperately looking for an AM/CM. That's not good planning.

We should have signed Draxler before selling Vidal.

Then we wouldn't be in this shitty position..
Mwah, the amount Schalke would accept for Draxler at this point, is lower then what they would have accepted back then. And we were first looking at Götze.

We arent desperate, why do you say that ?

We have media linking us with everything that has two legs. We've had Witsels agent recycling and desperately trying to offload his player out of russia.

if we want draxler, we can just go get him like that. But we are looking for the right price. We allready secured Cuadrado and Sandro so we arent that forced to do it.
We dont want to overpay, fair enough

but seriously, "desperate", stop reading tuttosport

It's not about the papers, even though all transfers have been reported by these same newspapers before it happened.

Just look at Marotta's interview, and look at the moment we are. He basically guaranteed they are going for an AM, and 6 days to go, if they aren't desperate yet, they should be.

Of course things can't be linear all time, but honestly, they sold Vidal quickly as hell and now we are clearly struggling to find a suitable AM/CM. The fact there's 6 days left is proof of this.

Let's see what they will pull off, it will be defining the mercato.

Just for the record, getting at the end of mercato and explicitely acknowledging you are looking for an important player for a certain position/characteristics is never a good place to be. Leverage is with the selling team. Time is on the selling team side. Also the selling team will have trouble replacing the player sold, thus upping the price.

It's definitely not a comfortable position to be, and that's why I don't like it.

It also pisses me off to see that Vidal is fully integrated at Bayern, regularly playing, took part of the preseason, while we are still in an undefined situation.

We did it according to Bayern's timing, not ours.

Couldn't, or wouldn't?

Big difference there, dude.

Look, this just doesn't seem right, no matter how you put it.

I understand getting rid of the salary, but that was a salary that we did not inherit, but we gave him.

But aside from that. He was given to a club that , believe it or not, has more European success than we do in the last 5 years, playing in a league that is arguably stronger than ours, and unquestionably more prestigious.

This is not some middling club or newly promoted minnow, Zach. This is also a club who have not spent a large amount this season, and received 30 million for Bacca.

Come on man. Something isn't right here, and you know it

Exactly.

We shoot ourselves in the foot by not signing anyone after vidal´s sale.

The fact we are still "chasing that important player" points to desperation

He also got Pogba for free, while paid 12M for Martinez. See, he makes good transfers and bad transfers.

Are you saying we don't know how to prioritize? Sorta like how we are handling our deadwood in the last week of the mercato after making big investments?

]Why didnt they step in if that was the case[/B] ?

Vidal said he wanted to win the CL. Why on earth would he go to city ?

And Chelsea doesnt want Vidal
Because Beppe sell him with a speed of the light. In order to do that he even went to Munich to further convince Bayern that his 37 m. price is true.
He would go to City for the same reason he joins us .We should block the transfer so he will be forced to accept the offer from City which will be higher than Bayern's .Of course better vages for him.So higher money for us and him .A win-win situation.
Chelsea might not want Vidal but MU and City do.
