With all the other talent that has been acquired, I would be more than satisfied with a good AM.

Basically Cuadrado is coming on loan, Draxler is difficult but anything can happen from now till the end of the mercato. The younger players will take some time, they will be better next year, players like Pirlo and Tevez didn't need that sort of time, obviously.

I still have questions about his ability to be a true AM, to be able to pick out his teammates and place that pass where it needs to be.

He's not a great AM by any means, but a good one as you said, his strengths imo are exactly linking up midfield & attack. What he doesn't (consistently) do is playing the defence-splitting passes you'd expect from a truly class AM.
