Nah I disagree there. Last summer was dramatic, more because of Conte's exit than the mercato itself. This summer is far more worrying in that respect, and if you're of the opinion that the season can start today, and we will do just fine, then I would say you're treading in tricky territory. This team needs a leader in the final third, and a guy people can look up to in the dressing room as a reference point, and someone who would help optimise purchases like Mandzukic and Dybala. Someone who makes Vidals sacrifice worth it. We have lost too much in Tevez, Pirlo and Vidal to think that the team is in good shape the way it is. And I for one, am definitely worried about our position currently. We have a month for the market, but anyone who thinks there's nothing to worry about if we don't end up with a half decent AM is only deluding themselves.
Tevez is anything but a leader. Never has been, never will be. Great player, sure, but not a leader.

And Mandzukic has scored basically the same number of goals as Tevez over the last two years. Over three years he's scored a few more, and his goal-minute ratio is better. It's not like Mandzukic is some 21 year old kid. He's played for top teams, and is a top forward, and is exactly the influential player needed to anchor our attack in terms of experience, and to allow our young stars to have a reference point in attack. People here seriously underestimate him. 3 straight years of 20+ goals in top teams. It's ridiculous to hear people act like he's some scrub and is not a top player.

You're right, Tevez isn't a leader. Although, If you read the post above carefully, you'll notice that I never called Tevez a leader, only a huge loss, which like you mentioned is hard to replace. And given the loss of our pillars, we NOW need to replace them with a leader in the final third. Mandzukic is not that guy. The term embodies so much that goes beyond just abilities on the field. It's going to be a blend of vision, experience, temperament and ability to guide among other things.

Here's the thing though Baggio.

A lot of adjectives were thrown around in regards to Tevez prior to 2013.

"Leader in the final third" was not one of them.

And if he wasn't considered a leader when he was here, why would we suddenly need a leader in the final third now?

did you just call mandzukic a top player lmfao?
all he can do is head the ball and score tap ins, he is slow, technically inept, and overall toxic sh^t without service

but what should I expect from a clown who thinks di Natalie is better than totti right?

I don't know enough about Mandzukic outside of watching him play, to know if he's "a leader"... Play style, he's a very tenacious, hardworking, tough player... He's not a great creator, even if he gets his share of assists, but he does have a great nose for goal, and works exceptionally hard both on and off the ball.

I expect Pogba, Marchisio and Khedira to be experienced leaders in the middle of the pitch. I wouldn't call any of the AMs we're linked with all that great in terms of being a lead in the final third. Draxler and Gotze. They're children. Zaza I expect to be a very good influence in the team, even if he's just a bench player. His confidence, his fiery passion for the game, his grinta, they are all things that suit Juventus well, and will help in the dressing room certainly. Our attack is young but I like the balance of skilled flair and fancy in Dybala, a mix of skill and raw athleticism in Coman, a good at almost everything type in Morata (even if he isn't exceptional in any single aspect, the combination makes him have world class potential), and two tough as nails, hard working, aggressive players in Zaza and Mandzukic. That's a great balance. All we lack is a CAM, and I really don't see it being a problem regardless of whether we sign a top CAM or just a good one.

:sergio:

68 goals and 17 assists in 131 games over the past 3 years doesn't equal a top player?

No, it doesn't. He played for Bayern Munich where they were beating opponents 5-0 every other game after Robben and Ribery (these are/were top players) waltzed the ball to him on the goal line. He's anything but a top player.

Is it actually yukerini ?
I think so, I didn't check this last account, but he's made 3 or 4 of those accounts that were confirmed by other mods.

just a guess or did he not even hide his iP?
I don't know. Didn't check, didn't ban. But it's like the 3rd account in 24 hours so there's a pretty good chance.
