I just have one question.
There are complaints by the usual motley crew abut quantity over quality.
Ok. As far as we know, only one of the transfers this year will be a starter (Dybala), and that is only because Tevez has all but left.
So, if we are to take things into perspective, let's look at the other acquisitions.
Pereyra- As JuveJay said, he made over 40 appearances last season, contributing 6 goals, 4 assists, and I think most of us can agree that he got better as the year wore on, and brought a very direct and speedy game to our midfield. Something that was lacking
Mandzukic- He is a 29 year old, consistent goal scorer who has played and performed with big clubs before, including leading the line for Bayern's Treble winning season in 2013.
Khedira- When he was healthy, he was not only a mainstay on his club, but is a feature player for Germany. For free
Rugani- Easily the best Italian defensive prospect in the world, and one of the top young defenders in the world period.
So now we go to this whole quality vs quantity debate.
With the exception of Dybala, and now possibly Pereyra, assuming that an AM is not purchased, being the starters, this means that Khedira, Mandzukic, and Rugani will all be on the bench.
It would be one thing, and a point could be made, if the aforementioned players were bench quality material. But I don't see that. I see those players as the type that are good enough to start on a an overwhelming majority of the teams in Europe, and the fact that they are not starting here is a testament to the quality of the starters that are here.
Starters, may I add, with the exception of Buffon, Marchisio, and Chiellini, were brought in by Marotta.
So in conclusion, give it a fucking rest already.
