Napoli have to pay Higuain €28m for a three year contract. Dybala at his Juve salary costs €14.6m over the same period. Now, I know you are no Archimedes when it comes to numbers, but that's about half the cost of Higuain!

You answered your own question. Do you want quality or do you want quantity? Quality costs money, you might get lucky with a market opportunity but they are rare for quality. Teams don't want to sell quality. You then overpay for quality.
We paid €9.4m + €4.5m for Isla. No matter which calculator you use this adds up to €13.9m.
We paid €11m for 50% of Giovinco, which was offset by his €1m loan and €3m co-ownership to Parma over two seasons.
We aren't trying to sell Pogba, but it's well know that bids are around €80m. I'd rather Marotta didn't sell Pogba or Vidal than prove a point to an internet troll.

You know what became apparent to me this morning? 
Marotta & Co. are seemingly cornering the market on youth talent in Italy. And its most certain most will never see a pitch in a Juve jersey but the idea of using them as deal sweeteners has become crystal clear. I came to this conclusion seeing Goldniga sold to Palermo which was probably part of the Dybala deal, right?
As Sergio mentioned we have a wonderful relationship with Sass for loaning and Udinese for buying. It must drive other big clubs mad seeing how effortlessly we deal with other clubs. It's like dealing in bullion when all else fails. Now we see us dealing with Empoli for Saponara. These minnow clubs know they will get something good out of dealing with us which seems to make them more likely to make a deal. We owned Sturaro partically before we bough him out right. Same for Rugani at Empoli.
I know other clubs do it but our recent track record for getting the ones that actually turn out good is fantastic. We are completely in the drivers seat in all areas of the market. I don't think I'm explaining this well enough but does it make sense to anyone?

Meaning we have the best strategies short term and long term. Also, it seems we are building relationships with other clubs which will be Key to not getting ripped off. Seems to be mutually beneficial relationships that benefit both sides, such as Sass or Emploi, for example.
By "all areas of the market" I don't mean like world wide or continental, more so domestically BUT our foreign youth buys are included in those domestic deals. Furthermore, our financial backing certainly helps give us more pull whereas you see the Milan clubs overpaying for players simply to try and build a quick successful team. I'd be remiss to not mention our Bosman deals as well, which is certainly something we do better than other clubs without a doubt. Our youth policy is looking very fruitful now it seems we are getting our youth sides in order as well.

The youth bit has yet to really come to fruition. At the moment they are just pawns in the market for the large part. Grosso and co have been a disaster so far, hard to believe how badly the side under performed and under achieved in the last 2 seasons. OK fair enough the team itself is not of the same quality as of a few years back with the likes of immobile but still you'd think we'd show more with what we invested in that sector. Again it remains to be seen who is brought in to coach the lads next season. I'm still irritated about our lack of ability when it comes to offloading players we are utterly dreadful at that if you ask me
Well of course, I see your point. They are youth, if we had already "seen" then they wouldn't be youth players but more established NT players. The point is the promise they are showing isn't something to not acknowledge. Rugani was class for an entire season. You don't find many young defenders that consistent. Stuaro immediately stepped up and was a major help in the 2nd half of the season. Berardi is as consistent as ever. Zaza is the wild card for me. Could be good bench or not at all. Pogba, yes the exception, was an immediate success. Coman is hot and cold but when on his day is a great young player.
All of these are part of our transfer strategies which I eluded to. The club has done quite well blending the older guard with top class players, youth players with a lot of potential and of course bosmans.
