Well the thing is Roma wasn't able to hold on to a few very promising players that went away aka Marquinhos, Lamela, and Pjanic probably next. Juve is a more attractive destination to begin with so you can say that made Marotta's job a little easier.
Its also easy to make attractive signings when you have holes to fill and money to spend from those sales. The fact we hold on to our best players makes it hard to 'improve' the side, from a mercato point of view.

I've said before, spending €25m is fine if you can do it, but I'm quite happy to spend €10m on a player who might be worth that at the end of the next season.

When you see the investment we have made in players under 24 then our strategy seems clear, even if a statement signing each summer would be wise for marketing and PR purposes.

You mean we arent signing the transfertargets the media suggests ?

Well, cant expect better from Americans to blindly follow their media and say every other nation has propaganda
Media? Marotta has publicly admitted to being interested in many of the players that we fail to sign.

Well, can't expect better from an european super educated, uber intelligent citizen to make a generalizing ignorant statement like that.
Oh, i'm not saying we are better. In fact, we do exactly the same

"beeing interested" doesnt mean shit.
Each time he said that, a team with 10x more money shows up and snatches the target , nothing we can do.

People need to stop beeing peasant filth, and realise our financial limits.

The fact that we continue to miss out on supposed transfer targets clearly is not a good sign. Obviously if that is the case, the criticism falls on Marotta and co.
This summer he's taken it too far though, he's out of control signing those Sampdoria type of players.

I'd be interested to see what player did we miss out on this summer.

Sanchez? Went to Arsenal for 40m
Iturbe? The total operation would cost more than 30m.
Falcao? :lol2:
Di Maria?
Griezman?

Exactly. Marotta is usually saying we are interested and will see what situation arises. Wich doesnt mean "we absolutely want him"

Its allways been his strategy to get good deals on the right terms. For example Tevez, Pogba, Coman and Llorente were such excellent deals

We could have signed Iturbe, I disagree with him, but we wouldn't go to auction or pay that stupid agent fee. The others range from pipe dream to unlikely, if we are even interested in those players. Griezmann was probably an outside shot.

We didn't want to let his agent to hold onto 30% of the contract. The altenative was to pay the sum above 30m, and that would be above our limits.

Yeah, but when I said 'we could have' I mean if push comes to shove, not whether we wanted to or not. His relatively low salary was the bonus. The rest you are looking at €50m-€90m outlay on one player, Alexis for example will cost Arsenal €75m. Actually Falcao would be off the chart, but that's bs anyway.

We've spent a total of 50m this summer on shit we don't need. We could have gotten 1 or maybe 2 of those guys listed.

Stop drinking the kool aid year after year you 2.

Shit that we don't need? Wth?

We lost Vucinic and Quags, two reliable backup players, it was only reasonable to adequately replace them. This time we invested into youth, therefore Morata, highly touted youngster sought all across Europe, was bought.

Pereyra is versatile player, relatively young, can occupy variety of positions in the middle and last season should have thought us something; our midfielders were overused, lack of quality backup option proved to be crucial at times.

Romulo, another good signing, coming after great season from Verona where he along with Iturbe, Toni and Jorginho was fundamental part of their team. Can play in the middle, or on the side.

Quag was reliable? He was benched most of the season and not even included in the Euro squad. Vucinic had injury issues but would have easily been replaced by two new good signings.

The Pereyra signing is what pisses me off the most. It costs much, in a position we're pretty stacked and for a player who will not even make this team better. What is the point of having Vidal, Pogba, Pirlo, Marchisio, Asamoah, Padoin for 3 positions and on top of that adding Pereyra and Romulo? If we didn't have Pereyra or Romulo on this team nobody would blink an eye or panic and call for more midfielders.

We could have gotten Griezmann, Shaqiri and Evra and we'd be a much improved team, going directly at the root of the last few years problems. Instead, we do what Marotta does every year and add more players.
