Man, I'll be honest. If it stops here this mercato has been a disappointment, and kinda useless actually for our European goal. Our starting eleven has not gotten better at all. Just wasting time and money on reserves.

Also don't forget that with these better bench players it enables us (in theory) to rest players more before important CL matches. Conte was quite loathe to rotate much, he had a lot of bench players but clearly not much faith in them (aside from Marchisio and sometimes Caceres) as replacement first team players.

We don't know yet how Allegri will use our squad.

The bench hasn't been all that great, no. But at the same time, we have spent a decent amount of money for supposed bench players over the course of the last four years. The thinking (at least here) was that we purchased a lot of the Matri's and Quag's to fill bench roles for us for the long run, but instead many of these players did not even work out as bench players, unfortunately. So now we are back to square one with filling the bench. The only bright side (at least for me) is that they are going after younger talents which is what I wanted to see all along right after Calciopoli.

We also have to say that is not easy to improve our starting XI, and maybe not even this much needed. We've been working fine on talents and back-ups. But if we look at our goalkeeper, defence and midfield we're among the best in the world... It's not easy to improve that. We could improve on forwards an wingers, but you need big money nowadays to do that and we don't have it. We can still board someone like Xherdan, that would be a great starter, though.

I dont. THe point in the civilised world is that you need to upgrade that bench.

We came a long way, improved the starting team a great deal. Currently we dont have the funds to really add starters, so we try to replace the more expensive players we had to get as stopgab solutions and replace with higher quality bench material. Preferably young with good growth in them.

In MLS teams dont pay players but the MLS does,wages are fixed at a pretty low sum, transfers happen all the time, only 2 players are allowed a higher wage, contracts are horrible, and players are extorted in general

The issue, and irony, is that they have a very communistic way of threating their sports. Very centralised, very equal wages. And that is an issue for the quality of the sport

Sure, MLG is very naive, and has everyone attacking with open helmet. But for the players its horrible. Got a problem ? Well MLG has your contract and you are transferred on the club's desire.


I get it. they want to avoid clubs making huge losses. But they could do that in different ways.

Contracts should be by the clubs, let MLG regulate clubs making depts and signing players, but this crap.
