Yeah I am missing details, like how he gave Tiago away for free or lost 10m on Diego despite him having a good season.
What about other overpaid and/or medicore signings like Pepe, Quagliarella, Toni, Giaccherini, Giovinco, Peluso, Bonucci, Vucinic etc
The only truly good signings are:
Pirlo (lucky)
Pogba
Vidal
Barzagli (lucky)
Lichtsteiner
Asamoah
maybe Caceres
Llorente

Any player on the bench contributes to wasting 100M. We should only field 11 players. It would be better if Marotta could do proper work and come up with 10 or even 9 truly great players so that we don't waste any extra money filling out our starting lineup.
If you pay money for a proper training staff then you don't even need bench players because the starters should play 90 minutes match after match. If only Marotta would listen to Conte about the training staff. After all, Conte hired Conte. He knows what he's doing.
Conte pleaded and begged not to sign his ex-players like Peluso and Padoin. That is for sure. But Marotta didn't want to waste money fixing his lazy eye so that he could see eye to eye with Conte. If only he had been that prudent with our transfers, perhaps we'd have two undefeated seasons instead of just one.

Don't know if you remember but Bonnucci was being traded for Alves till that deal fell through. Barzagli was here as Legro's replacement, hence why we needed a CB that season, but when we failed to sign one on deadline day, Conte used what he had. That's where the world class defense came from. The world class midfield story as we know it, is that Pirlo came here and transformed, but if you're telling me you could see that this is what he was going to do at the time that we signed him, then that's very impressive. I'm not even getting to the striker situation, but to think that after everything and all the names we were linked with and chased, we squabbled with Siena to sign Bendtner. Like he seriously thought a player being signed by a side fighting relegation would have any value here whatsoever?! Forget the money involved. Just the thought of it.

There was no we in Pirlo's case, he was bought by Marrotta before the new coach was appointed. And if Barzagli was the commanding CB we were after, why were we in a rush to close Alves? We even offered Pepe to Zenit, another player instrumental in Juve's success that season. A player bought by Marrotta himself for 10m the season prior. A move that Conte blocked.
