RISE

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Although undoubtedly eccentric (some may even say insane), Zacheryah has been deemed a wise and necessary choice for The Society at this present time. Him defending the Great Man so vigorously of late has not gone unnoticed.

We welcome him into the brotherhood.

Let me just stop you there. Bayern is the model we are looking to reach, not that we have the means to currently do. That's years down the line.

If Juventus were to sign Cristiano Ronaldo tomorrow we'd sell half as many shirts as they would at Man Utd, Bayern or Real Madrid. The bigger picture needs improving first, and some of it is out of our hands.

It depends on how you create that bigger picture. A good looking stadium, stylish kits, sponsors are all a bit part layer. The quickest and most important way to get noticed is winning. Thankfully, Conte has gotten Juve to start doing that, we not being a noveau riche club but one with a bit of legacy, already takes a load off creating things from scratch.

The point being made is that, when you aim for a model such as Bayern's, the growth of the team in stages, has to function along similar lines. I'm not asking or expecting the team to sign Ronaldo today. But, if you're not looking at a Ribery level signing, in your third season in charge as DS, after having spent, close to what 80m in transfer fees? Then, clearly you're on the wrong side of the road keeping your target model in mind.

Bayern ironically has effectively the same issues, albeit to a lesser degree, as we do when compared to the La Liga and the EPL. The Bundesliga isn't as commercial, but their success on the field and in Europe has created an image of a club people associate with, despite maybe not seeing them on Tv worldwide, as often as they see United or Madrid. That has been aided by catalysts like Robben and Ribery, players who have played their part in no small measure and have signed for the club when they were at a similar stage in their growth cycle as perhaps we are today.

Also, please don't underestimate signing a global star like Ronaldo, I think that's just a wrong example because players today have the visibility and power to transform a club's entire image with their own added fanbase, and trigger interest in the league just by moving there. Del Piero at age 38 has increased interest in the Australian league. What do you think Ronaldo would do with a team participating in the CL as champions of its league while he is at the height of his powers?

Of course he would. I deliberately picked the most extreme example, but I still believe it to be true. It's going to take more than a big signing or two to improve our visibility. A good league and continental success is required.

In effect we are in the same realm in terms of what the club needs to be doing, then. My point is just that an important factor for continental success and in turn increased visibility, is more often than not linked to quality players wihtin the ranks. At least one in every department of the pitch. That's what we need this year, the equivalent of a Ribery in attack notwithstanding transfer fees and dare I say, perhaps even wages.

Next season with BT coming in the PL broadcasting package goes up from £1.78 billion to £3 billion.

Domestic broadcast revenue is divided on a 50:25:25 basis; 50% is divided equally between the clubs; 25% is awarded on a merit basis determined by a club’s final league position and the final 25% is distributed as a facilities fee for the number of matches shown on television involving the club.
Just shows what we are up against in that respect.

This season Juventus received €103m from the domestic tv deal. In 2011 without the collective tv rights we received over €130m.

People really seem to forget where we were and have not fully digested the amount of progress we've made. It's staggering and perhaps could be argued to have been the most progress any European team has made in the past 3 years.

We've gone from 7th place in Serie A with no real quality players to... bringing in an entire new squad, winning back to back scudetti, reaching CL QF, building our own fucking stadium, building the Continassa which is the equivalent of something Madrid or Barca have and something far ahead of its time in Italy and paying for it with CASH! We have such little debt. Our revenue is increasing yearly at significant rates, our appeal has nearly been restored after playing in the second division barely 5 years ago.

We just got done buying world class players like Barzagli, Pirlo, Llorente, Pogba, Vidal for fucking peanuts and we're so far ahead of Serie A that we are taking the last month of play off. We supply half of the god damn Italian national team who just finished as finalists at the Euro.

In January people were begging to sign Llorente quickly for 20M, some saying to just pay the clause. We ended up getting him for $0M. I can't believe there are people still in this thread posting any negativity at all. Even the "shit" Italian players this guy buys turn out to be decent squad players.

But then again, people on this forum are surprised and down right offended when an Italian team with an Italian core buys more Italian players from the league they play in. In fact, our biggest blunders have been from non-Italian players like Diego, Melo, Amauri, Krasic, Elia, Martinez. Hello?

FFS, people are still complaining about 28M combined for Matri and Quagliarella when we had no appeal, no CL, no money, nothing. And all those players did was contribute to the league's best offence and score something like 60 goals in the last 3 years and average over 0.5 goals per start each. Alright, they're not Ronaldo and Messi but it's not like we withdrew 28M from the bank and dumped it into the ocean. Get a grip. We paid money and got what was required at the time.

Marotta has to satisfy Conte's (who he hired) hunger for top players but at the same time work with modest finances and at the same time save money to fund our other projects like Continassa and our brand new stadium, which will truly take us to another level, and fund it in cash mostly. And so far it's working!

Please look at where we were relative to the rest of Italy 3 years ago and then look at us now. It's unrecognizable. We are better in every single aspect. You can't name something that we're worse off in.

I actually have no problem with the fees we paid for Quagliarella and Matri, in the context they arrived.

It's a great post, Mike, but unfortunately that's completely ignored because we are dazzled by the FC Hollywood lights right now.

Who will even be challenging ?

Milan ? Depending on the form of the ref, they might end as close as 10 points under us. 15 before they get knocked out of the CL groups

Inter, maybe half their squad is back from injury after the preseason, maybe. Maybe they manage to win a game before december. Maybe they wont get relegated

Fiorentina ? Not in the cl, and probably losing jovetic and possibly lullic

Napoli ? Lost their coach and Cavani, maybe they finish in the left side of the table.

Make no mistake, Juve reigns supreme
