Trez was old and over the hill, I love him but he would not have helped our season one bit. We were after RvP but didn't have the money to sign him - what are you going to do about it? Elia flunked hard so he was sold. Stop presenting things as if Marotta just doesn't want to do what is best for the club.
Trezeguet can school any striker Marrotta has bought in his reign, including Quag. Why were we after RvP if we didn't have the money? It's got nothing to do with him wanting to hurt the club, it's got to do with his level of competency. This year he's going to have to be on the top of his game, no matter how great you think he already is.
Again, you don't have to agree with me about this. Based on what Del Neri and Diego said at the time, it was pretty clear that DN was fine with Diego. If you go with Diego's version of events (not that you have to believe it), he was even more explicit about the fact that DN wanted him but Marrotta wasn't clear with him and sold him with only a few days to go.
So, it would be better if he didn't try to find bargain deals for big players? If he's not 100% sure he shouldn't try and improve the squad?

I don't remember at any point in that season, Del Neri asking for Quag or Dinatale and Borriello, both of whom rejected us. In fact, I do remember him pairing Diego and Trez and being happy with it, even saying something to the effect of Diego not being a wide player but offering the team something extra in attack. So don't know what you're talking about.
I wonder how it works at Juve though. It would perhaps be more optimal if the coach did have a say, as some people here claim Conte does and that's why Beppe is only getting him those that he wants. I didn't think it was true in DN's time. Not sure it's changed since then. Maybe Conte being a stronger personality is able to express himself better, especially after winning the scudetto, but I genuinely wonder how this works.

No, but he certainly shouldn't go from looking at a world class striker to owning a Bendtner. I just dont see how that works, so please don't justify it. Hate on me if you like, but like you credit the man, you have to accept he is error prone, and makes questionable calls.

Factors that should've been considered before he was even bought on the last day of the mercato. Clearly, another panic buy. I refuse to believe Elia flunked, because he hardly ever got the opportunity here. Justify Isla's injury, but if Elia flunked then Isla flunked. It's as simple as that.
