Well if we managed to buy him last summer for 20 million he would have been our big signing. So I dont think we should consider any less of him just because we got an amazing deal on him. But I do agree with you in saying there should be another big transfer given that we did not spend on bringing in Llorente.

I would not be upset if we spent the whole budget on just one player aside from Llorente.
it is a less, as he will be two years older
and most important we have wasted two years and no one is going to give those back...

So, as a transfer it will be ok, but considering the sacrifices we made, it becomes much less impressive, without that being the player's fault at any case...
The past 3 transfer windows we made no decent finisher acquisition, just because he was coming and we suffered and still suffering because of this, this should be considered as part of this transfer.

Its only one year of us having to wait for a very expensive player to come for free (i would rather us not have spent last summer and just waited the year to get him for free). And while our finishing upfront is not the best we are not suffering that much. Afterall we made it out of the CL group and are still first in Serie A. It could be a lot worse.

Hopefully Anelka is good enough to get us through to the summer and we can look at a top quality signing in addition to Llorente

Anyway lets just hope the forwards hit some form now and we can hang on to serie A and get past celtic.

Well well well, old news but after being trapped in a Wikipedia session for a while, I found out that Marotta is responsible for selling Diego. He wanted to stay, Del Neri wanted him to stay but Marotta decided at the end of the mercato to sell him at a loss. That shows what kind of "skills" he has. We can forget of a big signing as long as he is in charge.

The Marotta apologists aka The Society will have you believe that:

1) Diego did want to leave and was not forced out
2) He wasn't that good, and therefore his loss isn't a grave one
3) We needed to let him go, to bring in other players
4) He wasn't suitable for the formation, and we were better off selling him and reinvesting the money
5) Marotta acting in coordination and conjunction with Del Neri's wishes

or a combination of all the aforementioned factors :D

Milan are cheap, but what is our excuse for signing all these random players when we actually have lots of money ?
According to Zach and the other Break Eveners working under Marotta and the management, this is not the case. We only have 4 million + sales during the summer, as we need to break even ASAP.

Breaking Even is more important than signing players you need and becoming even more competitive. This is an indisputable fact :D

The previous summer when we saw that i was right about Matri, that he is not the prolific finisher some ppl thought.
It was then we were looking for a finisher. It was a mistake to priorise Vucinic instead of him, this is when he should have come, this was my main point of criticism and i was proved spot on, as right a few months after the season starter, this issue was obviously our main issue.

We could have prevent it by signing a CF there, at any case, anyways since November 2011 up until summer 2013, the seat remains vacant and we are looking for someone to fill it.
Its 3 transfer windows already and he will arrive in the forth.
Last summer we didnt buy him, because we wasted our budget on an opportunity target SS.
Last x-mas we didnt buy him, in order to maximise our chances to find smth better this summer.
This summer we didnt buy him, because we could buy him for almost free this x-mas window.
This x-mas window we didnt buy him, because we will get him for free the coming summer...

Its like the coming of the Messiah, he better deliver and make up for all this waiting, but until he does that, lets not get carried away...

Yep. Now if Diego was Italian, he would still be here today, probably.

He has some skills. Average skills. Lets leave it at that and stop rationalizing every poor decision.

Yeah, you're right. Diego has said in an interview that the "new boss" decided to kick all the foreigners out and keep the Italians.

Marotta is useless when it comes to getting atleast a decent striker. But he has proven more than once that he's one of the best SD. And i'm talking about great deals like Pogba, Barzagli, Pirlo, Vidal etc.

I don't blame him for Peluso and Padoin. That was clearly more Conte's idea. Though i'm happy we have Padoin and Giaccherini. I just don't get the Peluso deal.
