Word. I've always rated Marino, though, but Marotta is better.

Galliani is an old fox and there's no doubting his skill, but I don't believe him to be as suited to these new, difficult conditions Serie-A are struggling with as Marotta is.

In my opinion, which probably won't come as a shock, The Great Man is the best there is.

I like Mqrino myself. Were spoken about guys like Sabatini and Prade in the past. But truth be told most of them would've done a similar job at Juve. Some maybe even a little better given that Juventus brings it own aura especially when dealing with clubs within the league, which is where he has spent most time and money negotiating and doing deals. And still come off worse in a lot of purchase/sales.

Marrotta has had about three years to get things right. And he's still failed on certain fronts and succeeded on other in this tenure. I wouldn't go as far as saying he's the best there is in Italy, because in effect a lot of the ds options could've done what he has, at the prices that he has. Let's see how he addresses the striker problem and judge him in the context of Europe etc to see how he fares. For now, keep it going.

Just seems like a solid DS who won't take any big risks and opts for the safe option. He still fucked up badly in his first year with pretty much every move he made (Motta, Delneri, Martinez, Krasic, Pazienza, Traore, Rinaudo, Toni, Diego's sale, King David's departure , trying to sell Bonucci to Zenith for Bruno Alves etc.)

Yeah always bringing up the 7th place finish. What about his work in building the squad that one the season undefeated, and the team this season that is amongst the top 5 in Europe? Nah, nah it's all Conte's work that's right

Dude has grown, and he's the best. Da Bawmb, he is. He is also truly a great, great man.

2nd year :

pirlo, vidal, pazienza, vucinic, a bunch of youngsters, caceres

then elia, no LB, no better CF, boriello, can't sell melo, iaq, huge loss on selling martinez

3rd year :

pogba, padoin (?)s, lucio, bendtner, asamoah, isla, masi, leali

still can't sell melo, still can't get us proper CF even embarrass us while trying and failing (hijack berbatov ffs, ended up with arsenal reject after pursuing their captain), still not addressing the LWB/LB hole

But one thing that people are always forgetting is that we (and Marotta obviously plays his part in this) are actually capable of holding on to our best players (all of them!!) & are gradually making the team better. And this is happening while we're balancing the books.
Unlike certain competitors.


I did not really like Marotta at first (complete overhaul, signing dozens of new players instead of building on what was good, Trez debacle, etc), but I'm not afraid to admit it: he was right. I was wrong. Because, in the end, the only thing that really matters are results. And the results have been pretty close to perfection for more than an entire year now.

I agree with you, but Marotta has been lucky with Conte. I don't think we'd have won the Scudetto if we had another coach than Conte last season, and that makes us accept the shit that happened the first season. If we hadn't won that Scudetto, my patience would be running out.

But in the end, it's still a team effort. Players, (coaching) staff & management all have their role to play. And they did so remarkably well.


Also, define "lucky". Marotta was lucky with Conte or was Conte lucky with Marotta (as in providing the players he liked to have)? Maybe Marotta was unlucky to have Del Neri the season before. Maybe Pirlo was a lucky shot. Maybe Vidal as well. Lucky that Barzagli turned out great. Unlucky about Elia though. And Krasic.
It would be best to leave "luck(y) out of the discussion, since it's not really based on anything concrete. For every example you bring up, you'll immediately find an example to counter it.

And next thing you know, we're back to "X was Conte's call, Y was Marotta's decision & Z was signed by Agnelli". All this based on random newspaper rumours or people drawing conclusion because of something they think they might have heard from a reliable source
