For less than what it cost to buy Aguero Marotta bought:

Barzagli
Bonucci
Pirlo
Pogba
Vidal
Lichtsteiner
Not to be rude, but I don't see the logic in that argument !

I can point out to the contrary that Matri + Quagliarella + Vucinic + Gio + Martinez combined cost this club around 70 mil euros.

Man city (who are considered as care free spenders) spent around 50 mil on both Tevez and Silva and those two are "easily" faar better than anyone we've got in our squad.

with enough fancy dribblers you dont need to finish?
Genius. :D

Actually no... with more versatile players in your line up you don't rely on a single player to win matches, save points, etc. Some say such methods may allow a team to lead the table in points, goals scored, and goal differential while competing in multiple competitions.

Those players are all worth less than we paid true, (Vucinic good value, Martinez a blunder) but that's really not an outrageous figure for an entire forward rotation.

Those were transitional players and they all contributed to bringing this team forward (except Martinez).

Now we will move on from them. Marotta succeeded in building the best defense AND midfield in Italy. It is unreasonable to think he could create the best in all 3 phases in such a short time.

Forwards are tricky to buy. They all have high wages and carry high bust factors because they are so dependent on the team around them so it's hard to gauge how well they can translate. High egos and always in high demand. You have to enter bidding wars and persuade these players.

Unless you have great scouting and can unearth them or pick up relics from other teams. But that is a huge risk.

At the time we were in it was somewhat safer to go with decent domestic options with modest wages and SOME acumen. Hopefully the time comes when we can move on from them however because they helped us transition but are not good enough for the future.

i was simply referring to our favorite hellenic doom peddler
as for your point, SS are not versatile if they can score, no one is talking about reliance on one player, but ratehr relying on all players to do their job and currently we dont have one that does the scoring. Additionally these players were brought in when we were barely competing in serie A so the whole multiple competition bit doesnt quite hold here.

You guys don't lead the league in scoring? You don't have the best goal differential?

Juventus doesn't have a scoring problem.

this would work on someone who doesnt actually watch our games, not to mention commodore beppe himself disagrees with his incessant summer sagas to try then fail to sign a proper striker.
I watched the last couple of matches. The whole team was balls against Inter and Marchetti saved the day against Lazio. If another goalkeeper were in the nets, Juve would have won 2-0.

I think Marotta has done a great job of building the team in such a short period of time after all the damage Secco did. Who knows, this mythical "top striker" may be on the books for the summer.

I guess only time will tell us, personally I don't think Marotta can take us to that next level. But that's just my opinion.

Include player salary in this discussion as well.
