"Quagliarella? He’s a part of our project."

Look how he said Matri is staying and instead of saying something like "same goes for Quags", he says Quag's a part of the project. Yeah, the project of getting Pazzini. Everyone's a part of the project when you say it like that. It's official. Quag is gone.
Yea, I think so, but if you look at the player, he looks so happy around his teammates. Would be gutted to see him go for that bitch.

Yet another big name target that we've been highly associated with just managed to sign for another club. Now I love what Marotta has been doing and have high respect for what he has achieved, don't get be wrong because I know how some people on this forum react.. but this has to be analyzed.

We can't just fold all the time, gotta take the fight if we get competition. Seems like we move down to plan b, c, d as soon as we get competition. Now we're down to Llorente and who knows what will happen if another team show interest in him.

You know what will happen. He will pull a "vucinic" like deal in the last week of mercato and say the mercato is closed.

(when i say a vucinic deal is those kind of deals that happen out of nowheere and no one wwas expecting it. Im not saying tha vuci wa s acrap signning)

Why are you making this post now? Marotta said weeks ago that RVP was not realistic.

Also, it's not as if we only have the choice of one striker left.

I have no doubt in my mind that Marotta will do a great job, I've grown to trust him. But I'm just questioning this whole refusal to take on the competition when it arrives. Usually, if guys like van Persie or any other "top player" are available on the market, there will be interest, you can't get away from that.

Why was he not realistic? Why not try to convince him that we've actually got a good thing going on? We're a very good and exciting team with great future, we need to persuade these guys to sign for us. And we obviously have the money.

I think he is doing a great job, if it would be the other way and we would have signed him for 30 Millions I think most wouldn't be happy either.
United is nuts they have around 800 Millions depts and make such stuff. Just think about Ibra 30 years, 20 Mio and he has more then just one good year in his past. Just Nuts

Yep, Van Persie was definitely coming to play for a team without a coach, for less money and in a weaker league.

I certainly won't blame Marotta for not paying £24M for RVP.
But that's what happened this week, today. Was it the case when he first announced that he wants to leave? Was that his price back then? Did we even bother back then? Did we offer him any sort of contract?

I think when he announced that he wanted to leave, we wanted him but we still were cautiously waiting on how the big guns would react to it, and see which transfer options will open i.e. Dzeko.

marotta just simply slips in signing star players, tends to overpay for average to good quality ones, rips himself a new one when going for an italian player. how close were we to signing aguero? a couple of millions? it burns a angry hole in my ass when i remember marotta being asked about aguero and he smiled and said soon

Like we do with every quality player, wait and wait and wait and miss on. Wasn't that the case with Dzeko where we waited until the FIGC came up with the 1 EU rule and we were forced to choose between him and Krasic. We are always cautious when it comes to stars and we always end up doing a panic buy because of how Marotta operates.

€30m on van Persie on last year of contract is too much.

At least it should be an interesting couple of weeks till the end of the mercato, unlike last year when the majority of the budget was already spent.
