I didn't say that. Don't be like a journalist, misconstruing my words, and interpreting manners to suit your own purposes you neanderthal :p

Marotta does deserve some credit, but Mike mentioning that we are first and undefeated has a lot more to do with Conte than Marotta in my humble opinion.

However, Conte deserves far more credit for what he has done this season than Marotta.
I didn't quote you :D

Sure Conte deserves more credit than Marotta, but it's not like this squad is shit. Marotta gave Conte a good squad and Conte is doing great things with it.

The "Conte deserves all the credit" is a bunch of bullshit, and this is coming from one of the anti-Society members (long live Dru).

Conte deserves most of the credit, but definitely not all. Marotta has done a decent job, but he's had way too many fuckups.

If he manages to get us Jojo and Suarez or a combo duo of such caliber, I'm prepared to overlook his flaws

Conte has his flaws too, and this is coming from the biggest Conte fan.

What if Marotta gets us Suarez and Jojo and Conte benches them for Borriello? :D

Who said Conte deserves all the credit? Just look at our squad. Its lacking in quality relative to Milan's and yet we are taking it them this season through team spirit and compact tactics which Conte is ultimately responsible for not for individual class which you would credit Marotta for. Moreover, I'm not necessarily labeling Marotta as no good but I do believe that he's not good enough considering the amount of wasteful transfers he's undertaken. Just because he's responsible for some good transfers which contributed to our success this season, doesn't mean that he's not responsible for the wasteful transfers he's also made which have contributed to where we weren't successful this season most notably in our forward group.

Yes, we're undefeated. Yes, we are playing good football. Yes, we're in 2nd place in the championship but that would only satisfy two types of people in this world - an interista or a straight up idiot. We could have actually won the scudetto this season with more clinical forwards and when it comes to the personnel in our squad the responsibility lies on Marotta.

Conte not all deserves all the credit, but double the credit because of the handicap set by Marotta, Buffon has been around quite a lot, he wouldnt have said that otherwise.
And Marotta was around before Conte and we ended up 7th... that was not his fault either imo.
Marotta's players would ranke us 3-4th, gradually 4-5 as we retire some of the old guard. 6-7 When Chiellini's time comes.
The horrible coaches we had made us underperform and Conte now make overperform.
The truth is somwhere in the middle.
Milan is indeed light years away from us material wise, Inter too.
Napoli are raising faster and wiser, Udine, Lazio, Roma and Fiorentina have hick ups.
Palermo and Samp like only last as long till they sell everything...

Conte is really the reason we are in the position we're in. Marotta could have done far more with the funds at his disposal. Funnily enough its quality forwards that we lack and yet that was where most of Marotta's focus was during the last mercato - Elia and Estigarribia virtually complete failures, Giaccherini has been unsurprisingly mediocre and Vucinic was never going to make a huge impact for the 15M that was paid for him, Matri hasn't been bad but again was overpaid for, Borriello... need I say more?

He might snatch a few quality players here and there but overall Marotta is a big waster and it shows with the amount of redundant forwards we have in our squad.
Exactly, but then again its my fault to argue with Nzoric about football. I shall just use Ahmed's post to reply to his "football" posts from now on.

Conte himself has stated "We have bridged the gap to most of the other top clubs, but Milan are still years ahead of us."

Time for Marotta to listen to his coach and get him the top players he wants this summer; no more panic buys or 3'rd choice acquisitions (because Marotta was unable to get the coach's 1'st (preferred) or even 2'nd choices).

Hypothetical :p

However, I don't want to hear more BS excuses from him. We are on the up, will have CL football next season, in addition to the atmosphere of the new stadium. This should make us more attractive to players.

Guys there will be nothing definitive about Marotta before the end of the next winter mercato. Now is the time for him to show he can manage a top club and work his way around the top dogs on the field and off it. It's one thing to take a reasonably talented Verona player that has a picture of our stadium on his desktop and tell him 'come and we'll see', a completely different matter when you are chasing a player courted by five other top clubs.
Someone was saying that his talent scouting stats aren't very impressive and I agree completely on that assessment, but we have to keep in mind that by being a top club both cheap quality youngsters and game time to develop are really hard to find. Perhaps even some of the unimpressive (now) players could turn out good squad members in the future( before caceres, now esti?...), still most would never be given the time neither by fans nor management. Eventually this talent hunting isn't really that important in a top club as once having a good squad you need to add maximum 2 players in 3-4 years. On the other hand you need to be able to support the quality and attract the right players every season. If he fails with the big guns he would never be good enough for here, even if his yard turns to La Masia and this summer/next winter we are about to see how good he really is.
