Release clause?

Marotta has already said himself we are going for quality now. It really is the final step.

We have a stable coach with a great system
We have the best defense in Europe statistically
We have no losses (I know, the ties!!)
We have depth. FFS, our Coppa lineups are better than last year's starters.
We have unloaded all the deadwood (Amauri, Toni, Grosso, Iaquinta, Motta, etc).
Our wage bill is much lower. Our average age is much lower.

What is missing?

A top forward or two. That's pretty much it. Backup CM, backup LB perhaps.

How do we get them. Money, stability, prestige and CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. This summer we might have all those things. If we get two top forwards will anyone NOT like our team?

I'm guessing some of you expected all this to be done in one year? That's impossible. But it might be done in two.

Pretty good to me.
Marotta has said alot though. He said we were going to sign stars and plenty of good stuff only to end up not delivering. I would take whatever he says with a grain of salt.

What we need is a striker who's reliable to score around 20 goals, a RW who can create and if possible a new LB. Now with the team that we had and with 3 quality players in those positions(or even 2). We'd be great. I really, really don't want to see like 5 or 6 new players again

Marotta may have failed to deliver on his 'will bring WC' statement, but the squad did require a major facelift.

In that aspect he has done quite well, we are finally in a position now where we only need 2-3 signing to be a very competitive and perhaps winning squad.

It seems everyone is in agreement that we only need a couple forwards to be back near the top of Europe.

What is the problem again? That we didn't get all of this done in 1 summer instead of 2?

We've been in this position 3 years ago and ended up signing Diego and Melo and finished 7 that year. It's make or break summer for Marotta and for Juve. We can't afford another fuck up this summer as we could quickly have a down year next year and be out of Europe again.

That was not because of Marotta, Conte could have done the same with last year's squad...
And Marrotta has already proved many times, that he is unable to hire a WC player, he is just limited to the peninsula market and even there he overpays quite a lot.
Quantity>quality is a mandatory road for him, because he simply cant add quality and he has to compensate with quantity, hoping that someone will deliver more than his value...

The problem is that I still expect Marotta to bring us more players that belong in Genoa than here. Normally, since we aim to be the best, we should also compete for the best players with those teams. I don't want to compete with Genoa for players.

He never had coaching, stability, winning and CL behind him like he does now though.
indeed, hence cautiously optimistic about this summer.

No way Conte could have worked such wonders with last year's squad, guys like Pirlo Vidal and Licht have been fundamental to our success.

We have a stable coach with a great system - Conte was Agnelli's choice not Marrotta's.

We have the best defense in Europe statistically - Ironically, it was Marrotta's job to deliver a CB before the mercato closed, and he failed to do so. I'm sure you'll mention Barzagli being a steal now, but at the time he was bought he came as a replacement for the outgoing Legro, not as a starter. It's another thing Conte managed to get the best out of him and Bonnucci.

We have no losses (I know, the ties!!) - Shouldn't Conte get credit for instilling this winning mentality into his personnel, coz Marrotta was here last season and we didn't go undefeated then.

We have depth. FFS, our Coppa lineups are better than last year's starters - Again, last year's starters were Marrotta's own doing as was the appointment of Del Neri.

We have unloaded all the deadwood (Amauri, Toni, Grosso, Iaquinta, Motta, etc). Grosso to the best of my knowledge is still here. Iaquinta and Motta are on loan, which means we still own them. Toni was somebody Marrotta bought in the first place and Amauri was gotten rid off with 6 months to go on his contract.

Our wage bill is much lower. Our average age is much lower.
I'm not sure how much lower our wage bill eventually is, because we've spent quite a bit of money to achieve that. Also, I could be mistaken but isn't our average age down by only a couple of years? I think we currently stand at 28, down from 30.

What is missing?
Game changing quality is missing. I don't think Marrotta can sign two quality forwards in one summer, but let's see how it goes. Will be happy if he proves me wrong.

The backup CM that you're talking about is going to cost us in the region of 15m. The backup LB maybe a little less.

How do we get them. Money, stability, prestige and CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. This summer we might have all those things. If we get two top forwards will anyone NOT like our team?
Would love to see what our team will look like in a CL season. And what kind of money we invest for the kind of quality that comes in.

I'm guessing some of you expected all this to be done in one year? That's impossible. But it might be done in two.
Its not only about how long he takes to build a title winning team. It's also about how he's gone about it and spent the club's resources. Constant chopping and changing is not healthy for a team. I'm telling you if Conte wasn't here this season, Marrotta would've been exposed as the mid table SD that he is.
Have a look at this. Am I wrong on the above points Mikey?

Here's an idea.

How about waiting until the end of the season to see who's wrong or who's right.

Team is currently in 2nd place and well on their way to a CL spot. That's the good news.

This team, with another quality finisher would probably be 4-5 points up on Milan right now, and that falls on the shoulders of management. That's the bad news.

As I see it, there are 18 teams below Juventus who would love to be where Juve are at right now in the standings.

The next time you reference a Van Hagar song, you are heading to my ignore list.
 I can feel the Roth. :D

Wow, you must truly hate Marotta
I do actually. I'll never forgive him for how he treated Trezeguet. Btw, speaking of which, his agent recently gave an interview about Davide wanting to organise a match between Juve and River. Can you source it from your daily scoop sites?
