Red, how do you rate our mercato? Interesting to see what neutrals have been saying because it seems like most of them are giving green light.
It's fairly indifferent.

Most of the gaps in the squad have been filled, but not necessarily with particularly good players.

I also find it astonishing that Juve haven't signed a CB.

Probably because aside from City we've added the most to our team, objectively and positionaly speaking.

Of course teams with no gaps don't need to sign.

Marotta has to go, today was his last strike out.

1. He should never have shot his mouth off about getting a big signing in at the start of the mercato. ''Oh yeah we will get a Aguero, a Tevez, a Sanchez'' etc, his summer signings were fine, but he raised our expectation level so high that any signings after he made those comments were only ever going to seem like massive let downs if they weren't who he promised, even if the players he signed were indeed good players.

2. Selling players, he had 3 months to sell players and who did we get rid of? Melo on a ridiculous loan to Gala, Momo to PSG (which he did do well on in fairness), Martinez in another ridiculous loan to Cesena and Grygera off to Fulham after we terminated his contract. We still have piles of deadwood in the squad, some of us at the start of June predicted we could have made at least 20m from sales, Marotta made us what? 9million at most? Fair enough he tried to sell Amauri and Iaq, but what are we the only team in the world that cant sell their deadwood? My view is that GM didn't do a well enough of job of clearing house.

3. Leaving it until the LAST day of the market to buy a fucking defender. This in my opinion is the true nail in his coffin, everyone knew we needed a CB, so Marotta waits until less than 2 days before the window shuts to go looking for one, why didn't he ask Conte at the start of the mercato who he wanted and go and get him? or at least try too. It don't take rocket science, he never seemed to have had a plan for the market all summer, it was all over the place.

Overall the man just has to go, this was the summer where most said he would be judged, well the summer is over and the man clearly isn't up to the job. He has improved the quality of the squad, but he hasn't brought in the players he said he would, if he had have kept his mouth shut then maybe some of us wouldn't be so pissed off with him. His contract should not be renewed. Time to get your coat Marotta.

always the same crap with the "marotta should sell the players" argument. people who claim that have clearly no clue.

there is no way marotta can do anything, when a player does not want to leave for a club that offers him lower wages.
furthermore it's not like he can go to every club in the world and say "hey, wanna some amauri ?". we have to have offers in front of all to have the slight chance to sell players. look how it went for melo .. it was possible to sell (or loan) him, because the turkish club was agreeing to pay high wages so the player was convinced to join.

there is no active way in selling a player without ridiculously telling the press that a player is available for a real low price... which would again give the crybabies here enough food to again moan like a little bitch

This "Marotta sucks and I told you so" posturing in this thread has grown beyond tiresome. Please come up with something better from your uncreative minds and fourth-grade debate skills.

Forza Marotta!
Only Elia is raising some questions, but I hope he'll prove his worth.
The rest is very good, sometimes even perfect (vidal fo 10, Pirlo for free).
Additional respect for keeping Bonucci and Sorensen (he's staying, right?).

They did not stay because Marotta wanted them to stay though, he was trying to send them away but he failed.
The rest is very good? Motta? Pazienza? Ziegler? Pepe? sending Melo on loan?

That's basically my two gripes with Marotta:

- talking about 'champions' at all, even just to appease. Rookie mistake.
- not bringing a DC in when reinforcing the defense was the primary objective, confirmed by the club. Trying and failing doesn't count.

Otherwise, like always, the mercato can range from 5/10 to 8/10 depending on how the coach uses players and what he can get out of them, and hence results. The coach is part of the mercato after all. Therefore I give it 6.5/10 and will be as realistic as from day one.

Cheapest option for 2nd RB.
Pazienza?
Good upgrade over Momo for 4th choice CM. And also +7mln.
Good LB. I think he's equal do DC and this is good. Also for free = excellent.
Pepe was ok, until we don't signed tons of wingers. Now I don't understand why we bought Estararara to LW. I think Pepe is better.
sending Melo on loan?
I personally don't know the reasons why he was loaned. I thought he'll be out starter/first team player this year.
But there shurelly are some reasons, so ok.

The only thing Marotta can be blamed for - not selling Grosso, Amauri, Iaq. But I think that's not his fault, but those bastards.

The only thing Marotta cannot be blamed of is not selling Grosso, Amauri and Iaquinta. If they are bastards then it is them to be blamed not him. However, Marotta did not learn from the problem he has at hand, instead he added to it by getting Motta, Pepe, Ziegler, Pazienza, Giaccherini and Estegarribia.
