Marotta is doing the best he can.
well, thats far from enough for a club of our level, even our new found low class level.
To sell no one for a decent price is unacceptable, to sell of players worthy of 25mil is unacceptable.
To keep repeating the same mistakes a water was doing is just...

Just back from work, what's the news? Amauri, Iaquinta, Pepe and Bonucci 'player' threads still open, and no Alves?

Marotta and Agnelli got some splainin' to do!!

Well, this mercato is full of disappointments to be honest even if reason speaks at the players links it should be understood that the targets were never to arrive. However, with the early disappointments by the end of July, the movements looked promising with Vucinic and Vidal arriving. With these two and the unnecessary loans that got signed, it looked like 4-3-3 is our best bet looking at the nature of midfielders we had and the number of forwards. By the end of August we also heard Agnello and Marotta promising again lots of things in August, just like they did in the beginning and failing. One would think they won't lie twice in the span of two months but they did. Giaccherini, Estegarribia and Elia meant that they ignored what is better for the squad just to please the only formation that Conte wants to field. Two unknowns and one lame player were acquired because that's what Marotta was only able to sign, covering it with bullshit about Conte not wanting this and not wanting that after each and every failure. And all this is a preparation for creating the scape goat Conte which will face the boot when/if the objectives fail. Then the icing on the cake was the centre back that was ignored since day one and only rushed in the last week. Up until now I don't know what Marotta was doing in the first weeks of August and left all the defender negotiations until the last week.

I will not mention anything about Amauri, Iaquinta and Grosso because it is not Marotta's fault they rejected all offers but loaning out Melo the way he did was a shame. Add to that him suffering in offloading some players was not enough lesson for him that such players don't leave, he went on and signed Pepe, Pazienza, Motta, Giaccherini, Estigarribia and to some extent Elia.

Decent points Jack, although would you say it is wise to not sign players who fit a 4-4-2 when this is Conte's preferred formation? We had this problem last season with Delneri who wanted 4-4-2, and ended up with Martinez, Lanzafame (4-3-3 players) and then Marchisio wide left. Also, the players we signed can basically all fit in this formation and also a 4-3-3. Elia and Giaccherini suit playing wide in a front three or wide midfield in an attacking 4-4-2, Vucinic in a front 3 or 2, Vidal and Pirlo can play in a midfield 2 or 3. The only ones restricted look to be the constant Marchisio quandary (at a strong level, he suits a midfield 3) and maybe Estigarribia, from the little I've seen of him.

Here's a question for you.

Do you think that Melo is a 25 million Euro player?

I think that it was unnecessary to waste time and energy, not to mention squad place, to buy wingers if we aren't going to buy excellent wingers. We ended up buying three of them and I don't really want to mention their potential.

Yes, we can still play 4-3-3 but now it feels a bit silly to do that knowing that we have only four midfielders which does not guarantee continuity due to injuries and suspensions and because we have four wingers. And because these wingers can play as side forwards in a 4-3-3 it makes it all too silly when you think we have SEVEN forwards to fill the last forward position.

We know the answer to that question, although I'm sure Cronios will have a complex equation to explain why Melo and Diego are worth €25m, if not more.

If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.

I have a question, and this may have nothing to do with marotta at all.

Now, the general feeling around here is that Sorenson is a bright prospect for the future.

If he was offered for that clown in Chievo, why didn't Chievo accept the deal?

I'm vdery curious as to what their reasoning could possibly be.

They just sold Mantovani, their best defender, to Palermo. They probably feel that Andreoli will do a better job as he's 24 years old while Sorensen is only 19 years old.

And yeah, Serie A teams don't trust youngsters.

Because the offer probably wasn't made.

Heaps of rumours are made up up deadline day, but all the ones that portray Juve in a negative light must be true. :undecide:
