So an injury to Lich leaves us with last season Defence?

Motta Bonucci Chellini De Ceigle

:sergio:

I can forgive him for not being able to offload Amauri, Iaquinta etc as they refused all offers but he should have had a CB sorted at least a month ago.

I'm rating this transfer campaign a 5/10.

First and foremost, someone needs to remind Marotta that IT IS POSSIBLE to sell players and not just buy them. I feel like Marotta spread the old lady's legs like a whore and invited every average looking man to have a go at us.

We got players like Estigarribia and that other youngster for left midfield for what purpose? We eventually got Elia and Pepe - now we have 4 players in the position with no clear player with quality. We ened up having 4 left sided midfielders and just one decent right wing, care to refresh me who we have to backup Krasic on that side?

Next, we sold Melo for nothing when he could be challenging Vidal for a starting place alongside Pirlo, and then we have Marchisio who has yet to fill-in the expectations we have of him for the past 2 years.

Then we keep Matri, Quag, Toni, Ale, Mirko, Toni, Amauri, and Iaquinta..are we playing street soccer (WTF)?! What are we gonna do with all of them?! He should have offloaded Iaquinta and Amauri befire signing Quagliarella or Matri permanently.

And like everyone is saying, we FAILED in securing a decent CB in defense. That wont stop our problem last year when we leaked goals even against the weakest opponents.

Over-all, I have to be realistic and lower my expectations for this year. Unfortnately for Cnte, Marotta's failure this summer might eventually cost Conte his job by January.

Explain what Marotta should have done to convince Amauri and Iaquinta to leave.

Take it easy guys. Go back to the other threads and check every formation that you posted here when the transfer market opened. Every single formation includes Bonucci. I agree that he did not impress us nor Conte during the preseason but let's give him some time. You can not judge a player after few friendlies and two Mickey Mouse Tournaments.

Exatly, what he did to Melo.

Do you honestly not fear for Juve'e future at how much resources we are wasting with Marotta's transfers? Honestly speaking, he's made some good signings. But I think for every good transfer, he's made x1.5 useless transfers - this is far from how Moggi made us to a European/World powerhouse.

I'm afraid we'll end up like Fiorentina who got relegated when they had so much financial trouble.

Explain what Marotta should have done to convince Amauri and Iaquinta to leave.
Iaquinta's injury and attitude obviously killed any chance of selling him.

I still feel like Marotta should have worked something out with Parma for Amauri though. Even if that something was basically gifting him away. I remember some quotes from Amauri earlier in the mercato that he would have been willing to rework his contract for Parma. I'm not sure exactly what that means, maybe it was still too expensive for them. That is possible.

If I'm not mistaken, he only has a year left on his contract, and now we can do no better than break even on the expenses for the player for this year - we're almost certainly taking a loss. By that, I mean if we sell him for 4M in January - which is frankly next to impossible - we'd still basically only break even with paying the first half of this years salary 2.1M + taxes is around 4M in Italy. Is all of this logic correct?

Because if it is, I'm sure there's a club out there we could have given him to.

Now this guy is likely going to cost us money, and be a source of unhappiness around the club.

I'm not sure giving him away for free would even have done it.

I think to get rid of him, Juve would have had to pay him off.

As i've said all year i wasn't going to judge marotta untill now.

Overall i was fairly satisfied with our mercato untill the last 48 hrs or so. I just can't get to terms as to how it is remotely possible that marotta was incapable of securing a decent central defender, and overly neglected the defensive unit once again, in midfield im satisfied and very pleased with the signing of vidal, and upfront, well i think we look decent enough. over all this summer confirmed my worst feelings, that marotta is simply not the man who can secure decent enough signings, nor is his ability to negotiate well enough to secure our primary targets.

Although for the most parts Conte had a huge say in who he wanted, but marotta's inability to feed his demands to a adequate level brings huge question marks, and frankly speaking i'd rather have had perinetti (ex bari and current Siena GM) who at least provided Conte with adequate needs.

in conclusion: marotta has to be gone by next summer.

Let me close my argument with this:

We are no ManCity, no ManU, no Barca, or Real Madrid in terms of spending capacity. If we dont win any trophies soon, we'll end up paying for all this financially crippled. Heck, I'm not even sure we'll make money even if we win some trophies.

Our wage bill is simply too big for the honors we are trying to challenge for.

It's possible Red, but I feel as though Marotta misplayed this one. 7 goals in 11 games at Parma made him think he could recoup something, and instead of getting rid of the problem he overvalued the asset while trying to maximize his return, and basically ran out of time to make a deal. I guess we won't know the whole story.

What we do know, is that this player is going to cost the club what, upwards of 8M dollars this season? To poison the environment? I'd be shocked to see him get any playing time.

If all of that is true, it would have been better to just pay him off.
