if we do indeed buy vargas and alex, what you say makes sense.
But what if we dont?
I ve been waiting for those 2 acquisitions for 5 years, pardon me for not believing that they will finally join us in the last week of this transfer window.
Your assumptions take us a fact that those 2 players will be bought, but i consider them arrival as higly unlikely.
And at any case, i judge the current mercato with the facts in hand so far.

Every year, for the past 6years, i have a similar debate with a random optimistic member, who beloeves that we cant be that stupid and we actually have a plan in mind and every year we end up the mercato wihout those players.

Lugano and Vargas/Bastos are imo, players that can be considered a permanent solution to our issues.
Perotti/Gaston and Alex are not, they are Martinez like risks, compromises of an unwise waste of funds on uneeded opportunity targets.
The failure to grab even such compromises is an utter failure because of the same reason.

It remains to be seen how we will end up. As a Juve fan i hope that we will sign Lugano and Vargas or at least Vargas and Alex.
But objectively, after watching our team comitting the same mistake of investing everything on CMs+SSs each and and every year, i expect to see us respecting this pattern in the expense of our needs and utterly our success.
If this happens again, i want you to remember it next year and help me remind to the next you, when in the last week of august 2012, after already wasting most of our budget on a new CM and SS and have yet to buy a new LW and CB, someone will pop up like you do now, claiming that we will definilty buy a starter CB+LW in the last week of the transfer window...
All I can say is :sergio:. How is Lugano more of a long term solution than Alex? Alex is 2 years younger than Lugano and is proven in a much tougher league.

He's a doctor? Oh, I can just see it now

Dr. Cronios- Ma'am, it's a boy
Woman- Is he healthy?
Dr. Cronios- Yes, Ma'am, but I can already tell that he is going to be mediocre at best.
Woman- What?!?!?
Dr. Cronios- Yes, Ma'am. Mediocre
Woman- Oh My. How do you know that?
Dr. Cronios- It is my opinion, ma'am. And that is a fact.
Woman- What kind of a doctor are you?
Dr. Cronios- A doctor who has had to wallow in mediocrity for the last 5 years, with our administrative staff spending incredible amounts of money on syringes and gauze, when this hospital really needs new aprons, an X-ray Machine, and a defribrillator. Also, ever since our general manager was let go 5 years ago, our new general manager has insisted on buying Italian doctors who only care about being gynecologists. Which reminds me. Your son will be Italian
Woman- WHAT?!?!?!?!
Dr. Cronios- Yes, it's true
Woman- But, my husband and I are Greek
Dr. Cronios- Doesn't amtter ma'am, this is what I believe, therefore it must be true

I just read this now. Gold, absolute gold. I cant rep you as I need to spread it around.

EDIT: And Cron even though I dont agree with you on many topics regarding Juve, you can take criticism like a man. You truly do have thick skin.
