Buying bonucci for 15 mil is another ridicolous move. Selling half of Giovinco who's an Italian NT player and was the "star" of the Italian U-21 team for just 3.5 millions is another big question mark. Letting go of Trezeguet and replacing him with a washed up Toni for almost the same Salary didn't help too. Not to mention the Diego case.

Overall Marotta was average IMO, made some decent move in the market and some bad moves. I certainly wouldn't call him great for that......

i don't understand the criticism for bonucci transfer. at the time both bonucci was coming off a solid season with bari. add to the fact he is a young cb, who must i remind you can be very expensive and 15 million is not a a lot. how could marotta have known he would not turn out according to expectations? he mad ea gamble and it didn't work out. big deal.

Lets face it. Diego looked like he was worth the money we paid for him when we bought him.

Marotta is looking more incompetent selling players than buying them this mercato. Last mercato he sucked at both. Laying the foundations for the squad by signing 11 new players only to buy another 7 the next season just goes to show his last mercato was a complete waste of many millions of euros. He's hardly redeemed himself for that by selling players like Melo and Giovinco for peanuts, trying to sell half of players like Sorensen and failing to sign anyone world class. He might have not said outright that he would sign an Aguero type player but he failed to sign anyone of similar quality which he was apparently looking for. Vidal, Lichtsteiner and Vucinic are all positive signings but that doesn't redeem his incompetence. Moreover, he made a promise to keep wages and the average age of the squad low and then he bought Pirlo and give him high wages. He also failed to assign a good manager twice now.
