The problem now is, what does he do with the strikers if Matri continues to do well? He signs both Quag and Matri, he signs only Quag or Matri or he signs Quag, Matri and another WC striker like Rossi or Benz? I guess we'll probably end up signing both Quag and Matri but I was hoping for a some good, quality investment up front. Guess with those two, Toni, DP and Iaquinta that won't happen anymore.

I know we're going to sign Quag but if Matri continues to do well I would have signed him and went out looking for a great SS like Rossi for example. We don't know how Quag will recover after the injury and I'm not sure if he's good enough as our new SS next to a goalscorer like Matri.
I think we have to take up the option on quag, no question about that. We will negotiate the fee and use quag's desire to play here and his injury problem to get the price down. I think the Matri fee will also be negotiable, because he's not worth what they are asking for him. DP will be a bit part player, Toni will be ancient and Iaq is injury prone, so I still think we'd have to get another player in. I think it's going to all hang on Amauri, if Marotta can flog him then we'll get another striker in, if he cant we might see that amazing player return to Juve....

Weird to read a page or two back that people still seem almost totally in the dark regarding the departure of Trez...as i thought it was common knowledge that Trez asked to move, so that he could enjoy the last few years of his playing career, in sunny spain, in a region where his wife has most of her family...a place for them to settle, as a family, yet still allow trez to play at a high level...after so long in turin.

Also...how many times does it need to be mentioned that purchasing aqui/quag/matri in the summer would not take the TOTAL VALUE of those transfers, out of our summer budget, as the fees would be paid over 2-4 years.

My view of Marotta is still fine and hopeful. We were desperate for fresh blood last summer. Didnt have the appeal of the champions league, which pretty much prevented us from chasing any truly already established world class players. Quags, Aqui, Sorensen, Bonucci, Storari...all have been wicked for the club. Even pepe has done his bit...Only motta and martinez have been complete flops, and the jury still remains out on Jorge, really...as he has not had much time to get match sharpness, which is important for a player whose game depends a lot of sharpness of mind, and quick decisions. So the only definite mistake was Motta...a very cheap mistake at that.
Looking at the youngsters we are getting, some we have already seen in the first team...sorensen...so patrici and marotta certainly seem to be improving our scouting network...the romanian keeper??? and magnus kid recently added to the youth ranks...

and as for Toni, Barzagli and Matri////so far, so good.

After Secco, Marotta seems brilliant. He is no Moggi, but he has certainly improved our squad...

we are ALL aware that his main job from NOW until the summer, is to earmark massive improvements in the fullback positions. And to sort out the attack...Matri could turn out wicked. Quags can stay. DP may as well be made a nonplaying ambassador for the club...so we need a new ss...

And how many times does it have to be mentioned that it doesnt matter if it's in installments, you're still spending the same money and need to deduct the totals from the whole transfer budget, because you also have previous transfers we're still paying, so it's not just the first installments that will be paid in the summer.
