It's not bad if you look at the numbers and what we've achieved. We have a better, much younger squad now, especially looking at depth. The only thing lacking are superstars, real difference makers.

We'll be a more consistent, organized and therefor better side than last year, I don't really doubt that. I though, along with others, had hoped for a bigger name upfront and a LB, but the market isn't over yet.

That's basically how I feel now. The only thing is that we'll have to pay quite the bit of money for the players we now have on loan, or replacements for them if we decide to give them back. We'll have less positions to really fix than this mercato though.

Some people just don't get it. They are buying into this whole Italianization of Juve concept, even if it's the expense of quality.

Diego didn't have a fair chance to prove himself? Fact

He was sold for almost 10 million less than he was bought? Fact

He was replaced by a mediocre Italian player? Fact

Bottom line is, the management made all the wrong decisions when it comes to Diego.

What is it we don't get? Because I am sure I was meant by those people who don't get it.

I wasn't talking specifically about you. I know how you operate, and that you dislike the whining and negativity, but given the current situation, it can't be helped. I do admit to being negative often times, but what is happening with Juve is infuriating to say the least. Actually, what has been happening over the past4-5 years is rather depressing.

I am being negative because:

1) We didn't adequately replace Diego.

2) Our attacking department, as things stand currently, is potentially the worst we've had in 15 years!

3) We are favouring mediocre Italian talent over better quality available elsewhere.

4) Our fullbacks are nothing to write home about.

5) There are too many ifs and buts with our current squad. We may be more physical, but we are definitely not oozing with quality.

No logic what so ever letting him go. I could have understood if he was absolute shit next season but we should have given him another season, crazy.

The logic is pretty simple, they had to balance the books. I've said this before Delneri's interview and the man have just confirmed it:

See thats the bottom line. They had to balance the book, selling Diego has nothing to do with his ability because even Diego said that delneri wanted him.

When you are coming off your worst season, you try to hold onto your better players, not give them away, and replace them with garbage. Since you can't afford to compete with the big guns, there is no point or logic in giving your own talent away.

1)Giving away Diego, Gio, Poulsen, and potentially Trezeguet = Massive Fail

2)Acquiring guys like Quag = Illogical

3)Leaving yourself thin in the attacking department, given the fact that most of your strike force is mostly injured, old, or simply can't score = Insane

You need not await the start of the season to judge these illogical, irresponsible, and nonsensical moves. Even Genoa have been more prudent and shrewd on the market than us. Looking at the Milan squads (especially if Milan acquire Ibra), and even Roma, our attacking department is a complete and utter joke!

Im with you. However, the window is still open and we shouldn't judge the book by its cover. Im very sure we will sign a lb, cb and a striker before the start of september. But...

... selling Poulsen and Trezeguet is not stupid. We got Aquilani instead and Trez is not the Trez of the past.

... selling Diego is stupid. But in the 4-4-2 the supporting striker should be able to score on a regular basis. Diego is by no means a goalgetter. Quag should fits into the system a bit better, but we have lost our most creative player, what sucks big time.

We all need to just get behind the team and stop crying over spilled milk (even if some of that milk needn't have been spilled

). The fact of the matter is that our first choice team looks much better then last year and although I don't agree with the sale of Diego, the amount of positions in the team that have been improved has to be applauded.

I'm not 100% behind the idea of having the majority of our team being Italian for the sake of us being able to boast about it, but It makes sense to have a collective group of players who understand what it means to play for Juve and to a lesser degree all speak the same language.

I for one am going to be optimistic and reserve anymore judgment on Marotta and Del Neri until at least a few games in. The team is going to take awhile to gel, it's almost a completely unrecognisable team compared to last season after-all.

Now, I like 4-4-2 more than 4-3-1-2 and I like how athletic the team looks, but I don't think there is more quality in the team and I don't see how one can be sure just now the squad is better.

They will probably do better this season, but that is likely to be down to having a reasonably competent coach.
