Oh prettty please will you people quit whining? We're coming from the worst season in history, have no CL football next season and are still trying to come construct a squad (not just a team) following the events of 2006. What do you expect us to do?

Am I pissed off about some of the decisions taken by the board? Hell yes. But what Juventus needs this season is to construct the basis of a future team, start playing together as a unit and earn a CL spot for next season. You can't expect us to buy players who breakdance with the ball when last season's team could barely walk without stumbling.

After last season we hit rock bottom. We have to rebuild everything from scratch. It can only happen in stages. You don't build a winning team overnight. We're still trying to get the basics right, pass and move, discipline and team work.

Last season, when the transfer window closed I was very optimistic. Look how that season ended. I will judge this Juve at the end of the first round. Then we'll be able to see the progress (or lackthereof) of this team.

When you are coming off your worst season, you try to hold onto your better players, not give them away, and replace them with garbage. Since you can't afford to compete with the big guns, there is no point or logic in giving your own talent away.

1)Giving away Diego, Gio, Poulsen, and potentially Trezeguet = Massive Fail

2)Acquiring guys like Quag = Illogical

3)Leaving yourself thin in the attacking department, given the fact that most of your strike force is mostly injured, old, or simply can't score = Insane

You need not await the start of the season to judge these illogical, irresponsible, and nonsensical moves. Even Genoa have been more prudent and shrewd on the market than us. Looking at the Milan squads (especially if Milan acquire Ibra), and even Roma, our attacking department is a complete and utter joke!

It's funny how worked up they get over one player who hasn't done anything worth mentioning for this club.

Secco made a huge mistake buying Diego in the first place IMO. We should have never deviated from 4-4-2 for one player when they whole rest of the squad was used to that system.

You know... because they had been playing it for 6+ years before that. Putting an amatuer coach in charge and changing the system so drastically for a single player is always a recipe for disaster.

This isn't the NFL where you line up with a different formation every 2 minutes.

Diego was (supposed) to be the reference point of this team...the guy can make plays AND score, which outside of an aging DP, no one else can do

And I dont consider the signings of Pepe and Martinez as steps forward...there are better players out there in those positions who we could have signed for the same money

I was not in favour of selling Diego. But like JuveJay is implying, since when do seasons rely solely on one player? Wasn't Diego with us last season? I honestly believe that he should have been part of the team we are building, but then again, I'm only an outside eye and am not privy to the plans of the coach. That is why I'm not passing judgement. I'm merely saying that priority should be the building of a team not the signing of superstars. We need to get the basics right first and foremost. Whether the selling of Diego was a mistake will be told by time. Right now I think that it is. But hell, last year I was optimistic that we'd do well, so what the hell do I know?

Some people just don't get it. They are buying into this whole Italianization of Juve concept, even if it's the expense of quality.

Diego didn't have a fair chance to prove himself? Fact

He was sold for almost 10 million less than he was bought? Fact

He was replaced by a mediocre Italian player? Fact

Bottom line is, the management made all the wrong decisions when it comes to Diego.

And we lost Diego and "lost" Poulsen? And will lose half Giovinco. Is this about right?

So we upgraded:

GK (storari #2 with Gigi)

and we downgraded AMC position with Diego gone but a position we don't use.

When you put it like that it's not a bad job.
