sorry we dont work by pool fc standards :p
Scoreboard!

adding 1 TOP striker at a cost of 30m..Juventus go into the Champion League and Serie A campaign light on squad, the top striker gets injured and 1-2 injuries to key players and guess what?

THIS IS ALL MAROTTA'S FAULT! he wasted our whole budget on 1 player
Right, we should instead bring in mediocre strikers and improve our chances of improvement by 0% that way that if Bendtner gets injured then we can't blame anyone because we were never better off with or without him.

I think I got it now. Beppe is building the team for pure mediocrity so that no more and no less can be expected.

Hooray, we're Sampdoria

If we sign the 'top striker' and he flops it'll be that he signed the wrong top striker. Only success to rival Barcelona will suffice and prove Marotta as 'adequate'. Conte's work.

yet all this rotating has done us no favor either.... we still look tired and its only novembre... plus we do lack that striker and thats a fact

btw a main injury to one of our best performers and we are also $#@!ed...
imagine how bad it would be with only really the same starting 11 but 1 forward who is expected to carry the weight of goal threat by himself

Someone let the cat out of the bag. ^
nah that fucker clawed it's way out

thats a point i don't get though... if i look at barca etc they tend to play the same XI over and over again... yet they seem to be fit

no he is building a aquad of players that can dominate Serie A,qualify for CL every year, improve every year and suppliment the squad with better players progresively.

I swear some pople have gotten carried away with our season last year and seriously think 1 top player would have made us real Champions League contenders

yeah it's quite sad when the doom merchants seem to revel in a defeat as they feel it validates their point
Boz, if youve been following this thread since a long time you would know that this isnt just about the inter game, sure few of the new ones came out in rage after the defeat but the usual suspects were always there and rightly so.

Hardly anyone is calling for Marotta's head, and most of us did admit he did a good job, the thing is this defeat was always comming and could be seen ever after the Chelsea game, you have to admit not being able to get a single quality forward he was after for 6 fucking mercatos is a huge failure.

Now dont make me slap your balls with a cactus.

I guess this is where our views begin to differ.

He is building a squad that can dominate Serie A. There is no chance in hell that this squad can compete in CL because we don't have that ST with a killer instinct like the former #17.

Again, it all comes back to small club-minded man doing what he knows based on what he's done.

agreed but without the additions made to the squad we would struggle in Serie A also, I applaud the squad building but feel that problems attracting a top striker are twofold

1-the inflated transfer fees being asked by clubs because they feel that PSG,Citeh,Chelski, etc will throw whatever they ask at them
2-Serie A is not an attractive prospect for top players right now, they view it as a product of diminishing quality (Zlatan has never got the respect he deserved as he was playing here)
3-mid table Premiership clubs are able to pay wages that our top teams struggle to compete with, the top 5 clubs can eclipse any offer we may put out

Whatever the challenges are that make it difficult to attract/sign/afford a DECENT striker (I'm not even asking for top grade) must be addressed and overcome.

The climate of the transfer market cannot be fought, it is what it is.

With that being said all clubs either have to adapt to the market or go by the wayside. It's like any other industry. If you want to cut corners and try to save yourself from large expenditures then you will end up costing your company more (money, wins, success, opportunites, other top players, etc..) in the long run compared to if you played within the confines of the marketplace.

how do you suggest we do this?
when average forwards liek Adebayor are getting 100k contracts thrown at them we will struggle to compete.
we can't compete on wages
we can't compete on stranfer fees

we...simply are being priced out of teh market
