Marotta is an idiot. You build a winning team by maintaining the core and keeping your best players, not offloading them.

We have a lot of garbage roaming around, and yet we sold solid players like Poulsen, are contemplating the sale of our only creative force in Diego, and gave away promising players like Ekdal and Giovinco on stupid co-ownership deals!

Diego is a quality player though. Juventus is much better off with the player than without him... especially given his current value, in relation to what the club payed for him.

We're not Scudetto material though, you're right.

Marotta: «Team work is more important then the transfer market»
Every occasion, whether official like the Europa League or a friendly like the Trofeo TIM is an occasion to ask Giuseppe Marotta about the transfer market.

Interviewed after the match against Inter, the director general for sport affairs spoke of the situation: «In this phase of the transfer market one must try to take advantage of the opportunities that arise. Our intention is to improve the quality aspect of the squad for Del Neri. Tests like the one tonight serve to show the shortcomings and study the characteristics of the individual players. At the moment team work is the most important thing. We must create a sense of belonging and make everyone understand the importance of the jersey they are wearing. Diego? We are taking note of the interest shown by other clubs but there are no concrete reasons for Diego to leave».

I wish he'd mention that he's looking for a left back. Just to reassure me.
This is what has been keeping me awake until the wee hours of the night the past week or so... just waiting for those European headlines to drop (usually between 1-3am), hoping that after these past few years, we'll finally address this gaping hole.

Tuttosport: Marotta wants 4 players: CB, LB, WINGER AND CM.

Another headline: "Diego gol, but his father is in Wolfsburg", just like Bild claim:

(AFP) - Former German champions Wolfsburg have reached an agreement to sign Brazilian playmaker Diego from Juventus, the Bild newspaper claimed in its Saturday edition.

Wolfsburg finalised negotiations with Diego's father who is also the player's agent.

Djair da Cunha wanted an annual salary for his son of eight million euros over three years while Wolfsburg general manager Dieter Hoeness has proposed six million a year over four years.

Now it remains for a transfer fee to be agreed with Juventus demanding 19 million euros while Wolfsburg offer 17 million.

The German Bundesliga is not unfamiliar to Diego, who played three seasons with Werder Bremen in 2006-2009. The Brazilian failed to light up Serie A in his first season in Italy with Juventus.

Wolfsburg, who finished eighth in the league last season, are aiming for an improved result in the coming season under the helm of former England manager Steve McClaren.

McClaren has managed to retain the services of Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko, who became a target for several clubs after finishing as the Bundesliga's top scorer last season
