That being said, don't you think that Agnelli would have given free reign to anyone else that he had hired last season?
Yea, I think he was still finding himself and getting comfortable with his own position. Although, given a free reign, I don't think most of those SD's mentioned earlier would've disbanded the team quite the same way Beppe did. In all honesty, the approach itself took away his credibility, if we had made two or three sensible buys last year, that team would still be pretty strong to contend with today. Also, I know you don't agree with this stance, but Conte deserves a lot of the credit for how the money was spent this year - had it still been Dl Neri in charge, we would've had another new team with big money spent on players just to appease the fans and convince ourselves that we are still a big club.

What makes you think that?

I've always stated on this thread that Marotta and Conte should share equally in either the blame or the plaudits for this team's failure or success at the end of the season.

I refuse to sit here and blame Marotta for everything that goes wrong, nor do I, or would, ever say that he deserves the Lion's share of the credit when things go right.

Conte and Marotta are working as a team, and its very easy to see.

Disagree with that, last season we had delneri-Marotta and we ended up 7th, this season we have Conte-Marotta and we're 1st (so far).

What the real factor that changed from last season to the current one ? Conte.

I would give credit to Andrea Agnelli For having faith in Conte and believing in him ( with all the pressure on him after last season's disaster results).

Isn't Marotta the guy who insisted on delneri to move with him to Juve ?

Not disagreeing with you, but let's not forget the benefit of the new stadium.

Also, money.

It's not like Marotta was destined to recreate the Delneri season anyway, loads of things change each year, the year before joining us he made the CL with Sampdoria so must have done something right.
He did, but again since 1978 up until 2010 throughout all these years achieving 4th place with Sampdoria is considered as his biggest achievement ! hardly an impressive career.

:agree: nodoubt that helped too.

Fuck his history. Conte achieved nothing big too. Our goal is qualification to the CL, now it even seems like we have a shot at winning the league. Give him some credit. I fully agree with Sergio.

Yeah, lets build Marotta a monument and give him the number 10 jersery to wear next season... That is some credit. Also the 100 mils given each year to spend is some credit awarded to him. Not a lot, but no one gives an average DS even 1/10 of that credit, so I consider it enough. Finally, let's postpone the monument and jersey announcements for after the season, cause if last season repeats itself - well, we might need a new face for the monument and a different name for the jerseys.

Uhh... I might be mistaken but there is alot of difference between this year and last year. How about Pirlo, Vidal, Lichtsteiner, Vucinic and also Matri and Barzagli who came over midway. Also, a healthy Buffon?

Hello?

And about this Del Neri shit. Marotta was with him in Samp and they brought those bunch of retards + Cassano to CL. So naturally Marotta thought it was possible Del Neri could do something here. It didn't work and Marotta SACKED HIM QUICKLY. The end result is that it has taken Marotta ONE year to get us back into FIRST place. That is the bottom line.

You are joking 'bottom-liner', right?

PS: It's like saying it took just Manicni just two years to make the best team in Premierleague... You might be missing the part where someone(a crazy arab) just burned through the savings of a medium sized country, trying to support his manager.

So the bottom line is, sign me as a manager give me 500 mils transfer budget and another five hundred mils for salaries and I might(actually very likely will) be a bottom line great manager.

Conte is "faar" younger than Marotta though, Conte started his coaching career in 2006 while Marotta started back in 1978 (33 years) !

This reminds me of the argument that guys here had last season about Delneri, some defended him saying that he might turn great for us yet for almost 25 years of his career he hardly achieved anything significant, why would he all the sudden becomes WC for us ?!

That's were I simply disagree, I give a "huge" credit to Conte for turning such an above average team into a great side. Some say that Marotta and Conte should "equally" share credit for what we achieved so far this season, I don't agree with that.

My main point is, if we want to go real far and become the great side (both in Italy and Europe) that we were before then we shouldn't settle for average but only the best in their business.
