Man, I was hoping for that too. When the window opened I said that I prefer to use the 30-35 mil for our "big superstar Aguero-Rossi-like signing" for two defenders of highest possible quality, preferably a left back and a center back, so we can accomplish a heavy and strong backline and not worry about conceding again +50 goals/season. But, we didnt do that and we will suffer from that.

But for yesterdays situation, Marotta is right, he wanted to get a quality CB to partner Chiello and he and Conte were chosen Bruno Alves, Beppe tried hard to get him, but when everything was ready and Leo said no, we (Marotta) were in front of a dilemma - either buy a random CB or stay with what we have till January. So why buy someone like Gastadello, Andreolli, Bonera and etc (names that we were linked) when they are not better than Bonucci? The idea of getting a new CB is to be better than Bonucci and to create a better partnership with Chiellini, when we couldnt get the players we really really wanted (Lugano, Alex, B Alves - for different reasons), dont waste money for someone just like that. You should admit it, you wouldve been twice more disappointed if after Alves deal was off Marotta had signed someone from the list above and sent Sorensen to Lecce on loan, right?
Tosh, I agree that I would not have wanted us to spend money on Gastaldello calibre players. I'm all for passing on those guys, and it would not have sat well with me if we had spent say 5-6M or so on a mediocre player, and sent Sorenson away on loan. You're right there. I'm also glad that Bonucci is staying, I think he deserves more than one year to prove himself - he's still young.

But the point of emphasis is really Marotta's inability to prioritize our deficient positions. The situation should have been taken care of long before the last week of August, that's the real problem here. Juventus should never really be in a position where the options are so limited - especially with the type of budget we were working with this summer.

Sorry. A lot of people, not only here, but I see it on other sites as well that Marotta is shit and should learn from Galliani.

Learn from the guy didn't spend a penny this mercato?

Milan's squad is far from perfect, and they could have used some big signings.
Milan, like Inter, are low on money.

Having our own stadium will give us such a massive advantage in the coming years since it will take at least 5 years for Inter and Milan to build their new stadium and Ac Milan won't be able to buy the San Siro before Inter moves.

I believe they're after Ganso, saving the bigger money for him. If he had the Juventus money he'd have made better use of it, though. The guy has been part of Milan for 25 years there and is a large part of why they've had so much success.

Everyone is flipping shit on Marotta, sure it wasn't a perfect mercato but there are other variables involved. We don't have CL status to attract big stars, and even if we were able to sign a big star player this transfer window he would have taken up most of the transfer kit money, and then everyone would have flipped shit that we didn't sign players in other parts of the field as well.

We made some good signings this summer, some unnecessary ones, and missed some opportunities more specifically in signing Alves or Rodolfo.

But with our squad right now, I believe we can beat Milan and Inter and I think we have a really good chance to get a CL spot this season. Winning the Scudetto? Only time will tell.

Our stadium won't do shit for us without CL.

Juventus spent almost 90M, Inter spent 40M, and Milan can't spend money to get one player? With Scudetto money and CL money, that's hard to believe. (Especially when he didn't buy anyone else)

Buffon
Lichtensteiner-Bonucci-Chiellini-De Ceglie
Marchisio-Pirlo-Vidal
Quag-Matri-Vucinic

Buffon
Lichtensteiner-Bonucci-Chiellini-De Ceglie
Krasic-Vidal-Pirlo-Elia
Matri-Vucinic

These two teams are a huge improvement over last year. Stop crying everyone.

Our wings should compliment each other so Krasic should be much better. If Bonucci steps his game up we will be OK with our new RB.

Ideally we should light up the league with the 433...but if Conte is set on his 424 then hopefully Elia gives us what we need on the left.

God save the Old Lady with injuries.

My biggest concern is De Ceglie.

He needs to step the fuck up.

One of the main reasons we're not in the CL is because of Marotta

Bonnucci and Conte are our biggest question marks.
Bonnucci is not a question Mark, the guy is simply a poor defender.

Can't Mark a player, really piss poor in set pieces, horrible in 1 on 1 situations. I remember people rated him because he was calm and a good passer yet his passes been nothing short of awfull.

They will always get more money, fans, glory and income than us!
For the next 5 years, we wont threaten them.

De Ceglie was playing well before his injury last season. It had looked like he turned over a new leaf. Let's hope he jumps right back into that immediately. He might not be half as bad as some here are afraid of.

Bonucci is the one that needs to fit into his 15.5m (23m Cronie's) fee. He needs to step it up.
My biggest concern is Bonucci, he seemed very weak in the preseason. De Ceglie didn't look all too bad IMO.
