Out of all these 22 players Marotta has signed, how many of those were wanted by other teams and gave us competition? Vidal is the only one, right? The man is so scared of a bit of competition that he goes looking after players other teams don't even want.

Wow! People are still defending Marotta Fagotta the Sharmotta?

This guy should just go back to Sampdoria; apparently Garrone misses him, and said that his biggest mistake/regret was allowing this pathetic DS to leave :shifty:  :andyandbarcelona:

I am hoping for a Marotta free 2012-2013 Mercato.

Then how does Sir Alex, AVB, Mancini, Wenger do it? they do the deciding on what players come in and go out not there Sporting director. Marottas job should be getting the players the coach wants.
so how often does wenger actually get the players he wants ? from my perspective very seldom... for clubs with much money like man city or chelsea there can not be much of an argument, because you can not compare them to us . we have to look for our money !

there is a prime example for this system (coach = sports director) not working in germany with wolfsburgs felix magath who is a good coach but who successively buys players from italy (he probably likes italy or something ) for instance diego, barzagli or kjaer and these players do fail miserably and then he sells those player for much less after one year...

Magath is a crazy fuck first off second the coach knows what players suit his team. Not if magath fucked up thats his problem. I will always feel the coach should decide who comes and goes (of course within the budget) and have a Sporthing director(if you want to call it that) deal with negotiations but he should not decide who comes in or out. Thats how I feel. YOu have your opinion, this is mine.

Wenger's not buying player because he doesn't want to.

I like the new system of playing all attacking players. Reminds me of the Barca system where even defenders are supposed to move forward and attack, Totaal voetbol :seven:

The only difference is Barca have players capable of doing that. We are a pathetic replica, if even that. That's why we should just try and adopt our own system with whatever limited resources we have at our disposal, and hope it works.

Rollie made some very good points in this thread.

I'll just wait & see what happens in the next few days, but so far, just like last summer, I'm really not happy with what I've seen. And I'm not talking about the (lack) of money we spent. I'm not even talking about the players we signed. But rather the number of them & the size of our squad.
If there ever was an "ideal" moment to go for quality instead of quantity, it was right now with us missing out on Europe. Alas, we went the opposite way.

Marotta's first promise was that he'd first buy quality this year after stacking up last year. Come next season we'll probably sell a couple of players we buy this year, just like with Diego, Martinez and Pepe. It always seems like the club buys players the club themselves don't trust. And the fact that we are buying backup players before the starters demonstrates how clueless the club is with respect to their targets. One of the main reason I will always be more disappointed with Marotta over Secco is the fact that when we brought in Marotta we expected an experienced DS while Secco was just a paperboy who tried to learn on the job.

That's why I said, this should be Marotta's last mercato as Juve DS.
