Corriere.

He said if an important offer arrived for Diego or Melo they would have to evaluate it like any other player.

He also said RW and LB are the priorities at the moment.

Was he asked about Melo and Diego specifically? It's usually the standard answer really, isn't it? They just say they'll evaluate any offer for any player.

I wouldn't be too worried, priority is to keep him probably.

I like what he said about LB and RW though.

Usually when teams don't confirm that a player is staying and answer by saying that "they will consider a good offer" that usually means that they are looking for buyers. If they don't intend to sell the player they just usually say that the player is not for sale and the rumours disappear. Same thing happened to Zlatan yesterday, Guardiola said exactly the same thing and now the rumours about Zlatan are all over the place.

It's this part that worries me more:

“We only have to look back at Juventus’ history to erase certain prejudices: champions uncovered at little clubs who became great in Turin wrote it. Anastasi and Gentile came to light at Varese, Prandelli and Cabrini at Cremonese and Atalanta, Conte came through at Lecce and Ravanelli had surprised at Reggiana.

“We want to refresh that tradition again.”

Yeah Alen, buying players early so we don't have to spend €€€ is a stupid idea.

I know it's a tired cliché but Hamsik.

Bonucci is an even better example. I'm not against the idea of buying such players. But in short the last part of the interview was " It's not the right time to spend big ammounts on football players so we want to refresh the tradition of buying players from smaller clubs who will potentially shine".

Now that's good if you have a good team and if the new guy fails you'll have a replacement. But this Juve needs more than that. We can not depend on the hope that guys like Pepe and Martinez will become as good as the players Marotta mentioned, who also came from smaller teams.

Plus, in the Italian smaller teams I don't see many promising faces. There are players like Hamsik, Pastore (and I'm not sure if we can count these two as small team players, especially since they're just as expensive as players from big teams), Bonucci etc, but not enough of those in the league so we could concentrate on finding talent from Italy's smaller teams.

I don't think that's what Alen meant. I took it as he meant we will not be focusing on brining through our own youth players to become legends but that we rather buy promising youngsters from small clubs IN HOPE that they become the next Juve legend.

Just as we rather buy Martinez & Pepe from a smaller club rather than trust Gio who we have brouth through from our youth system.

Of course, it is not easy to see emerging talents because they haven't arrived yet. The players you mentioned are virtually established, international players. The historic players Marotta mentioned were no such players, although I agree with your sentiment for the some of the players we have signed, like Pepe (26) and Martinez (27). They could be good but won't ever be great. Motta and Bonucci, slightly different.

If you look at how we have tried to do business it has always been the same way, younger talents and the odd big signing, it'll be similar this year but we also had to bring more players for the squad in after last years debacle.

I think he is looking more along the lines of Zambrotta, Camoranesi, Zidane, Inzaghi, Tacchinardi etc.
