I speak for myself but I think other peoples point is that its better business to invest 1m a year in a talent, rather than paying 2m a year to an over the hill player that won't develop.

I would rather pay piazon 1m a year in the hope he would develop, rather than paying toni 2m a year knowing he will decline. our whole strategy is questionable, even more so considering we have no chance of any short term success....
i would much rather invest in someone young, avsolutely but i am against paying first team wages to a kid with absolutely NO first team experience and who has only gotten hyped up by some under 17 performances.
put it this way,if we were signing Ganso or Neymar then i could understand paying such high wages to a player that has already shown he has talent and is capable of handling first team football. paying this money to a lad that will almost certainly require 2-4 year developing is financial suicide.
we all remember watching Giovinco tearing up the competition at youth level and while he certainly has skill he has been unable to develop that into regular top team performances. again i use him,Palladino,Bojinov, maresca, etc as prime examples of players who looked like they would be fantastic but have failed to live with the promise, imagine if we were throwing 1m a year at them too!

All I'm trying to say is, the cost of a player doesn't always reflect the talent. We shouldn't be gambling that much money on a kid, especially in the situation we are in now. Yes, we didn't spend wisely on players like Martinez but two wrongs don't make a right. So lets hope this is to more wise negotiations and purchases.
i would rather we bought good young players with first team experience that can fit into our team NOW but also have room to develop. signing the Pirlo's of this world will only result in a short term fix but signing 18 year olds and throwing ridiculous amounts of money at them will only weaken the first team for the next 3-4 years

Before the game against Brescia, Juventus General Manager has declared: "We are thinking about the present, there are still nine games to go. For the rest, our project continues. We must continue with this team and then make the right evaluations. Del Piero? The president has already declared that our relationships are still open, this situation is to consider a formal act. We must end well this season to give some satisfaction to our fans. It's clear that in the next season new player will arrive, We always work to enforce our team, following a financial but also technical logic".

Marrotta is doing transfers by the numbers. Clearly not by football talent.

We cannot accept anymore Martinez esque transfers. At least when moggi and co picked up the o'neals and oliveras they were cheap an considered a supplement to the team. Bloody Martinez was brought in as first team!

Well a value is subjective and susceptable to fluctuation based on a player's stock, club and league isn't it? Secco thought he was worth €25m after a good couple of seasons, Marotta thought he was worth €15m after a below average one. Martinez came off the back of a good season and from an expensive league. It doesn't mean that the players need to be of a similar level.

That's where all went wrong - he cannot think.
