It’s reported that FIFA are considering reforming the loan system, or even scrapping it altogether.

The executive committee will debate new measures in October, after meetings between FIFPro [the players’ union], the European Club Association, the World League Forum and former stars such as Cafu, Zvonimir Boban, Edwin van der Sar and Marco van Basten.

According to France Football, one of the measures being considered is the reformation or even scrapping of the loan system.

The idea behind loans is to allow young players to develop with lower-level clubs, but world football’s governing body believes the system is now being exploited.

Big clubs are signing up large numbers of young players, only to loan them out and then sell them for a profit, often without them ever playing for the first team.

France Football points out that Juventus have loaned out 41 players this season, Udinese 27, Chelsea 22 and Manchester City 18.

As a result FIFA is considering bringing in new restrictions on loans, or even scrapping them altogether.

How would :beppe: cope now ?

Marotta: How to combat no loans…
By Football Italia staff

Juventus’ Beppe Marotta believes there are two ways for football to leave the loan system behind – reserve teams and the right to buy back players.

“Worried? We’ll see, it was something we knew could happen within 2-3 years and we’ll have to adapt to it,” he told Corriere dello Sport.

“How? With the introduction of reserve teams and the right to buy back players.”

I'd be interesting to see what happened, if you could not send players to teams in the same league for a fixed period of time. I bet contracts with all kind of weird clauses would be made.

IMO his model has reached its peak. We'll never win Europe with it.

What's his model? Go for security; high floor, lower ceilling. Sign experienced guys that will give you security of getting the job done decently well; but who will never explode or develop into cream of the top. I'm talking about Khedira, Matuidi, Higuain, maybe even Mandzukic.

We also have an Italian former basis - now reduced to Chiello and Buffon - that has its clear limitations.

I don't think he has to revolutionize it, but he surely needs to be more aggressive, gamble a bit more for quality and youth instead of keep looking for security.

Gotta do this so we can dream of Europe. With the current setup, I really think we've peaked.

Start entertaining offers for Sandro. Let the bidding start now.

He won't play in Brazil this summer for the WC with Marcelo. His fee won't increase because he won't be showcased. Sell before the WC so we can use the money to start our market moves.

I would have agreed up until we signed Higuain. Higuain was a massive risk designed specifically to win us the CL.

Although most of the signings you listed were no-brainers really. And in the past we actually made low risk and high ceiling moves like Coman, Pogba, Pirlo, Barzagli, Vidal, Alves, Tevez where we risked literally nothing but the payoff was huge.

But since then the transfer market has been fucked beyond belief and everyone costs minimum 20M. And Marotta will always take a free player who can contribute.
